Stacey
I'm wondering if it's possible to have abdominal disdention from eating nuts ... specifically cashews and almonds. I've been using them as a snack/fat source and they are the only thing I don't usually eat so I think they could be causing this issue. Is this possible? Moderators Tom Denham Posted June 19, 2012 Moderators Share Posted June 19, 2012 I'm not familiar with nuts causing distention, but nuts are not an ideal fat source anyway. You might try substituting avocados, olives, or coconut flakes for a while and see if things improve.
Karen
I was a HUGE nut eater - ate them all the time. And I was really bloated. At the suggestion of a nutritionist (whose philosophy was similar to the paleo diet), I dropped them and my belly went down. Her reasoning was that nuts are seeds and, as a result, have defenses that prevent the body from breaking them down well. I'm told nuts that are soaked first aren't as offending but I haven't tried them. It might be worth eliminating them for a few days to see if the distention goes down?
