Heather Beck
Hi there, I hope I am doing this correctly? I have a question regarding pre & post workout meals plus breakfast. I do CrossFit at 6 in the morning... today is day 2 of Whole30 and so I am eating at 5:15 pre-workout meal then my workout then eating post workout meal at 7:30.... then I am suppose to eat breakfast but honestly it's now 11 and I just ate breakfast. Is there a better way for this to look so there is not so much food early or is my breakfast okay to have so late?? Any help on this would be appreciated. Renee Lee
Hi Heather, I think you're worrying a little bit too much about details here and are missing the big picture. Why can't you just consider your post-workout meal breakfast? Are you getting hungry around 11, or are you eating because you feel like you need to? Post workout meals should have lean sources of protein and a good whack of carbs. Why not just create a breakfast around those guidelines? Does that help? Heather Beck
Yes, That is what I thought about doing but then I was concerned I wasn't going to be getting enough food or calories as I know I am burning a ton with crossfit. I am just getting familiar with listening to my body to see if full or not...I have practiced many years of mindless emotional eating so this listening to my bodies needs is new. Kimberley Craig
I work out in the morning and find it difficult to eat a full meal before. I like some left over meat from dinner and a bit of fat- usually some coconut oil, about 30 mins before. After my workout I have some protein and carbs. (Its not delicious, but sweet potato baby food jars are SUPER convenient post workout esp. if you're away from home- or just pressed for time like me- much better heated with cinnamon).
