LindaLee 384
I keep hearing about kombucha...what is it? What are the benefits/problems?
Robin Strathdee 2914
I'm no Kombucha expert, so hopefully someone else with more experience can jump in here, too but here's what I know. Kombucha is a fermented drink available in a variety of flavors, both with and without added sweeteners. It has a probiotic effect on the gut, helping to replenish good bacteria. Personally, I've never tried it. I have friends on both sides of the fence. It's kind of expensive around here, though, so I figure I'm ok without it.
Renee Lee 1908
Like Robin said, it's basically fermented iced tea. I also haven't had it, but the unsweetened stuff is definite good for you from a probiotic standpoint. It IS expensive, because it's en vogue...but you can totally make it yourself. You can buy the grains from ebay (not actual grains, they're grains of yeast or some bacteria or something)
PaleoMom 4
Kombucha is my "adult beverage". I call it that so my kids know it's OFF LIMITS for them It is my personal splurge but lately I've been wanting to learn how to make it on my own. That way it's a lot less expensive. It's a nice break in the afternoon for me to drink a kombucha. I get them at the coop and usually every few weeks they go on sale so I stock up. It is delicious, but watch out, addictive, too! Wendyland 29
I'm going to a kombucha class soon with a local paleo meetup group. I've never had it before. I'm excited to try making it. It would be great of my daughter likes it. She had a tick disease and had to take antibiotics. I want to make sure she has good gut bugs.
