One thing that many who participate in Whole30 report quite frequently is a combination of moderate or low weight loss and a significant change in body composition (losing inches instead of pounds, which means significant fat loss). Even though people don't lose a significant amount of weight, they do lose fat and become healthier overall. I wonder if this is related to muscle gain at all? So it's safe to assume that testosterone, estrogen,Hgh levels will eventually come back into line. Over 30 days I seriously doubt that anyone would see a significant increase of muscle mass just from the diet portion.... Even 60-90 days. If you drop from 200 lbs to 180 that's a 10% loss in mass and your comp proportions will reflect that If your goal is to gain muscle mass you need to workout. Not limited to weight lifting... Sprints, cycling,swimming intense sports that stress your muscles will cause muscle damage and the resulting repair will increase mass.... If already playing sports.... This might give the visual appearance of gaining muscle ...as you lose fat your muscle definition increases anyway and your muscle percentage increases I'm doing a Whole 100... My weight is fluctuating quite a bit going by how my clothing fits and how much cellulite / dimpling I can see on my thighs.... Some weeks I eat more fat or more meals and exercise less etc but my muscle definition on my abs and arms isn't changing much at all Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I was basically just trying to find an explanation for this phenomenon when people don't seem to lose much weight at all, but do lose inches quite significantly.
