Bridget Lue Pelkey
I am a midwife and on day 3 of a labor. Last night truly active labor kicked in and the two days before that were prodromal/early labor that hurt but wasn't doing much. Due to distance, I stayed near the client's house in case active kicked in quick and to help her feel better. I've been eating Paneras (mostly), Cracker Barrel (breakfast - very understanding waitress), and had chipolte as well. I don't have the ability to have breakfast or lunch today (in client's home, nothing really on plan). I ate an apple. After this I MUST eat if I want to drive home. I'm so mentally/physically exhausted that trying to decipher what I can eat is hard. There is a five guys near me. I'm guessing I can do a lettuce wrapped burger. I know white potatoes are not on plan, but after 3 days of this (and very little sleep) I'm tempted by those. I'm on day 22. There are also LOTS of other restaurants like olive garden, red lobster, applebees, etc.. Suggestions? **edit: please, no panera. If I eat there again anytime soon I'll fall over. their one salad is good (and compliant) but ugh, not again for a while.
Susan W
Bridget I saw a thread about 5 Guys being a good choice. You need to eat. Have potatoes if there is no other starchy option. Maybe you can get a bunch of tomatoes sliced up too. Go eat!!!
Fenderbender
Of the restaurant you mentioned.... Red lobster has amazing management and really does try to please.... I have not eaten there but I know they are run very well and will accomadate... Outback... Top sirloin no seasoning, plain salad extra tomatoes, double steamed broccoli .... Cheesecake Factory has a lot of salad options as well as grilled fish,chicken...steamed spinach, etc And most mom and pop sushi places are great.... I've gotten plain grilled fish, salad, steamed watercress with toasted sesame seeds, steamed carrots and most will have sweet potato and butternut type squash to roast plain.... They stock it for their Japanese clientele, and also use it for the tempora plates....
Guest
I also read on here that Olive Garden can get you compliant food. Ask to talk to a kitchen manager and find out about the grill. Ask about oils for seasoning or the possibility of poaching. If anything else, get a nice chunk of protein cooked in olive oil in a clean pan. Your veggies can be cooked that way, too. This also works well at steak places. We got a plain sweet potato, steaks, salads with oil and vinegar and not croutons or cheese, and steamed veggies. We added more oil at the table. Moderators Tom Denham Posted March 22, 2013 Moderators Share Posted March 22, 2013 I occasionally go to Five Guys and order a burger all the way with an order of fries. They make the second best burger and fries I've ever had at a commercial restaurant. Just don't eat the peanuts.
dukunbayi
Burger and fries. Yum! Go for it (Tom said so ). Eat, have a wonderful birth, then eat again and sleep sleep sleep. I'm a midwife, too. Sending you lots of good thoughts.

Haven't been in a long time as my husband can't have peanuts. SmashBurger grills up a nice burger and they have sweet potato fries. You might change your thoughts on Five Guys if you get the chance to try them, Tom.
Bridget Lue Pelkey
Thank you guys so much! I was able to find something -- no idea I could have had the fries, should have asked sooner!! And Mom had a successful VBAC. Day23!
Susan W
Fries are not something you want to have regularly, but I think you know that. White potatoes are not allowed and the oil they used most probably is discouraged. We all just felt you needed to eat..fries are better than skittles. Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted July 19, 2013 Moderators Share Posted July 19, 2013 Five Guys definitely uses peanut oil for frying their potatoes. But the lettuce wrapped burger is quite tasty AND compliant. My workplace Maybe we can start a petition so they change the oil they use? Or that they at least add sweet potato fries? Tallulah Wolf-Angel
I believe the sweet potato fries at SmashBurger have a noncompliant breading on them.
