Alternatives to BRATY for stomach illness?

So my son has an intestinal bug, probably norovirus, and while he can now keep water and food down, he still has some bad diarrhea.

The common dietary recommendations for this are BRATY: bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, and yogurt.

I can do the bananas and applesauce for him, but I wondered what other foods you might suggest to get his digestive system back under control.

At least in the US, the BRAT diet has been disproven in multiple studies- it is not helpful. Plenty of fluids and early reintroduction of typical foods is key. As a pediatrician, only my older colleagues who aren't up on the latest literature still recommend it. Eat what you want- if it is broth, eat broth. If it's a salad, eat salad :)
