loubee
Hi there Has anyone found a source in the UK for compliant bacon, smoked salmon or nut butter? Also I have been buying organic coconut milk from Waitrose but it has guar gum added - is this compliant? If not a source of that too please! Thank you
Kirsteen
Hi, guar gum is ok but if you'd prefer it without I get one that's delicious on subscribe and save from Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/TRS-Coconut-Milk-400-Pack/dp/B004O0ATVW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1363853209&sr=8-4 I found compliant smoked salmon once in Sainsburys and often in Lidl M & S has outdoor reared bacon that's compliant but not all of it is, some has added sugar so you have to read the labels. You can also get compliant Wiltshire cured ham and roast beef in their cold meat section. I get nut butters in a local organic shop but you can also get them online at http://www.realfoods.co.uk/ and http://www.ethicalsuperstore.com/ I've used both of these and like both companies. Someone also sent me a list http://www.primalbritain.co.uk/paleo-directory/ which might be helpful. I haven't checked them all so can't guarantee they're all compliant but it might be worth a look. Anything else you're looking for ask away, it's always nice to see more in the UK, good luck
loubee
Thank you very much. Derval also bumped for me on her UK/Ireland thread and gave some answers there. I will take a look at those links thanks - as a full time working mum of a demanding 18 month old I try to do most of my shopping online as reading labels whilst your child throws random things in the trolley is not much fun - my shopping trips are more like supermarket sweeps these days but clearly I will have to get back into it to do this properly! Kirsteen
Hi Loubee, because i'm severly limited in what I can carry, I do my main shopping online as well. A lot of the sites like Asda, Waitrose, Tesco etc actually list the ingredients of most things on the website so it's worth checking as you're ordering. I have to admit, the first time I did it, it took ages but now i just breeze through it, good luck
Derval
So dissapointing that *all* the M&S sausages have sulphites.
RaeDawnOnly
I've found good nut butters at organic stores and also Holland and Barrett (which can be an extra good deal if they're having a sale). I've found excellent nitrate-free organic bacon from Whole Foods, but I also have good luck with one of my local butchers-- just had to ask! Christina Cowell
Here's some that I posted (Tescos online is my friend!): http://forum.whole9life.com/topic/8444-calling-all-uk-whole30post-whole30-ers/ Nitrates are ok on the Whole30 - so your bacon selection just got bigger!
