Hey! My partner and I are starting the program tomorrow and are pretty exctied (well I am atleast haha). Hoping to see some positive results when it comes to some digestive problems I'm having. Im already a pretty healthy eater, so the cutting of grains wont be hard for me, but the no dairy is going to be a challenge. Also, my partner is quite thin already (just a lean person by nature) and is a bit worried about dropping weight on the program, so any tips of portions or food suggestions to ensure someone isnt losing weight on the program, just cause i know a lot of people do it to lose weight.

Happy to be on here, and I look forward to chatting with some people!

Hi.

I started today 3/27. Thought I might join you.

I'm doing this alone - although my husband and daughter have agreed to eat what I am having for dinner. And they know I'm not buying anything that isn't Whole30 compliant. (Except milk)

I prepped a bunch of food last night - which made this morning easier. And divided the pantry and fridge. Feeling prepared-sort of and nervous.

What are your goals? I haven't finished writing mine down - as soon as I do I'll post them here.

I know it will help me if I post my good log. What will support you?

I started on Monday and fell off the wagon today at lunch :( I couldn't battle my cravings. I have to say tho that eating that food after eating clean for 2 days still wreaked havoc on me. I also didn't take part in the forum too much and I think having that support will help, I am starting again tomorrow and I am going to try and journal everything. My husband will eat what I make but the kids are not doing this, but the past 2 days was not hard to resit their food. After feeling like I did today I am sure that I can do this and it is worth it.

Good luck!

Hey Almcc and Jennifer, thanks for posting!

Almcc: I like your idea of posting our goals. I have a few; i would like to improve my energy levels, ive been feeling lethargic the past 6 months and that isnt like me, and I am hoping that the program will help with digestive problems i have been suffering from for the past year. They are unable to figure out any medical reason for them so im pretty convinced they are dietary. My partners goals are too increase energy, improve sleep, and hopefully decrease skin problems (adult acne). We want to be as strict as possible and stick to the rules. Im pretty good with a defined set of rules so having a really structured program like this makes me excited. I look forward to hearing what your goals are!

Jennifer: wow, thats kinda amazing that even after 2 days of eating clean your body rebelled against the bad food, that makes me excited to see early results. It would be really hard for me to have people in my house eating food i couldnt have, so i admire your resistance.

I just went grocery shopping so my fridge is all stocked with great foods and i have my meals planned for tomorrow, im pretty pumped!

This is my 2nd whole 30. I did my first Jan 28th to Feb 28 then I just went back to my old ways. I did have Great results! All the joint pain I was experiencing subsided a great deal, not completely gone though. I lost 9 lbs and many inches in my stomach, thighs and arms. My sleeping was much better and my headache went away. Now I am back to the begining. I do not feel bad about this because it was my decision not to keep up the good work I had done. I have learned that I would rather go back to Whole 9 kind of living! My husband is going on this with me because of cholesterol issues. The hardest thing for me is milk because I really love Laite's but that is a small sacrifice when the results are so good. I am looking forward to hearing about everyone's progress.

Hi everyone. I made it through my first day. I can see that the more prepared I am the better. Tonight I made a red curry that was really easy and my husband liked it. So that is good. If he gets on board it will be easier.

My goals are to feel better - meaning have more energy, a digestive system that works better, and maybe a better attitude about life. Also to lose some weight. And to break my cravings for sugar.

The roughest part was being hungry and drinking black coffee.

I would like to post what I eat here. If it would work better to start a thread in the log section - that works too.

Good luck to all of you starting tomorrow. We can do this.

pre-work out: 1 hard boiled egg

breakfast: eggs, ground meat, onion spinach, chard, kale, avocado

lunch: ground meat, tomatoes, onion, peppers, avocado, lettuce, spinach, salsa

dinner: chicken, sweet potato, broccoli, spinach, curry, coconut milk

snack: tea, 10 cashews, strawberries

Hedgehog, your food sounds great to me once you sub the oil for the butter.

I started today and am really excited. Food for today include:

Breakfast: 2 eggs scramble with peppers, onions, and asparagus. Served over a bed of sauteed kale and mushrooms. With 4 strawberries and a tablespoon of cashew butter on the side

Lunch: veggie packed salad with tuna on top and 1 tbsp of cashews

Dinner:stuffed peppers with shredded beef and veggies inside.

I packed an apple for a snack today, but im gonna try not to eat it since i know were not supposed to snack really. I have a pretty strong apple in the afternoon habit and its gonna be tough to go without, but from reading the book it sounds like i crave it cause my sugars are so out of whack. so im gonna try to power through and have a green tea instead.

Im really happy to have a group to share with :) Welcome to everyone who has joined!

My meals for today are:

Breakfast - 2 eggs, spinach, avocado & a banana with black coffee.

Lunch - Veggie packed salad with chicken, balsamic vinegar

Dinner - haven't gotten that far. I woke up late and didn't have time to prep this. Luckily I have nothing going on this evening so I can make something. I like the idea of stuffed peppers.

Will let you know how it goes!

Also wanted to post my goals since I hadn't done so.

I want to do this mostly to stabalize my blood sugars. I'm always tired during the day :/ I stopped eating dairy about 3 months ago because of stomach issues, since I've felt a lot better. Now I just want to feel more energetic and be healthier overall. I'm also training for a marathon (and Ironman later in the year) so my hopes are that with this type of eating I can become a better athlete.

Thank you all for the group!!

I have started today, last night I really took a moment and tried to identify why I want to do this and create goals. The biggest goal/reason I came up with is that I want to regain control over my eating and food habits, I don't want to turn to food every-time I get stressed. If anyone has some great stress reliever ideas I would love to hear them. This past year has been nothing but stress and I lost my control with food and gained about 70 lbs in a year.

s&jSwones: my night was awful! I can't believe that the foods I ate affected me that way. I couldn't sleep at all. I am excited to see what I will get out of the next 30 days.

My food today is:

Breakfast: sweet potato hash with ground turkey, 1 egg, herbal loose leaf tea

Lunch: Ground beef mixture with squash, onion, and a tomato cooked in coconut oil

Dinner: spaghetti Squash and spaghetti sauce

If I need snacks I have: 1/4 of a raw pepper and a small apple with 1 tbs. Almond butter

Good luck today!

I'm starting on April 1st (the day after Easter) and am really excited, but nervous too! I finished reading the book, and have the shopping list printed out to take with me tomorrow to Whole Foods. I am planning on doing some cooking on Saturday for the week...it's nice because I've been off this week and had time to prepare myself, and my home. I live alone, so I don't have to worry about feeding anyone except for myself. My goal is to break my craving for sweets, especially at night. I wake up in the morning not hungry AT ALL, which I now know means that I'm all out of whack. Can't wait to see if I can change my relationship with food!

Hi all,

Coconut oil to cook with? Is that the best to use?

I can't believe coconut milk is ok as it will be lovely to add to currys. It did say in the book that curry paste was ok. What paste do people use?

Am off shopping with my mum and she has bought me my fave pudding lemon meringue pie eeeek. First hurdle overcome I said no!!!! Whoop x I can do this! X

Newbie: I found the Thai Kitchen curry paste at my regular grocery store and i read on the other blogs that its complaint. I was pretty excited about the coconut milk too cause before Whole30 i avoided it cause of the high fat content, so its exciting to be able to have it.

So ive begin reading It Starts with Food and on page 56 they give a description of a typical day for someone who has terrible eating habits and has destroyed their sugar levels and it was me! Like exactly. I have prided myself for a long time on being a really healthy eater and I am not overweight or anything and I now realize that while I may be thing, pretty much everything else about my low fat, fat free, etc. diet was terrible. Its a bit disturbing to realize how much you can train your body in negative ways. If i wasn't motivated before i definitely am now after reading that.

Hello! Today is my first day as well.

1st meal: 2 eggs with asparagus and an orange.

2nd meal: seasoned turkey cutlets with roasted yams and lots of salad.

3rd meal: steak with brussel sprouts and maybe more yams?!

I've been vegetarian for most of my adult life, so i've been learning how to cook much differently than i'm used to. tonight will be the first steak that i have EVER cooked. i'm a little nervous!

I'm hoping that eating clean will help me with weight loss, migranes, stomach pains/cramps, anxiety, and depression.

dennys522: you should check out the book well fed. Its great for some recipes and there is a variety in there also. I have found that if you follow the paleo blogs you tend to find recipes that they have tried or other interesting recipes from people they follow. However, its alot of searching on the internet.

I managed to curb my afternoon sugar craving by having a green tea, but im definitely craving a snack right now and am trying to resist the urge to have something. Just drinking a lot of water to distract myself.

For anyone looking for a yummy dinner recipe, what we had tonight was awesome. Stuffed peppers, stuffed with shredded steak with banana peppers, mushrooms and onions, topped with guacamole and homemade pico de gallo. Delish!!!

Hi. Trying to do this on my phone - so I can't see who wrote what. Day 2 was ok. Felt crappy - headache, the things they say you might feel. Started to feel better in the afternoon - then my mood got witchy. Felt so much better after I ate. Won't kid you all - I am hoping it's not all like today.

Sounds like everyone is doing well and figuring out what to eat. Well Fed is a great book. And you can sign up for emails from her. The clothes don't make the girl - I think that's the name if her blog.

Tomorrow - daughter will be out - so we are going to try the stuffed peppers. I have some ground turkey and I thought I'd add a little almond flour.

Hope you all have a fabulous day tomorrow!!

breakfast: eggs, ground meat, onion spinach, chard, kale, avocado

lunch: chicken tomato avocado power greens curry coconut milk 1/2 banana

dinner: chicken, sweet potato, broccoli, spinach, curry, coconut milk

snack: tea, 10 cashews, unsweetened applesauce.

Finished eating at 8:40

I'm on day 2

It's interesting to know how everyone is doing. I made a curry last night and with the coconut milk it tasted lovely. Woke up in the night with stomach cramps quite bad and then have a headache that resembles a hangover this morning.

Am still keeping at it as have read all the benefits far out way what I am feeling.

Food today

Meal 1: omelette and vegetables

Meal 2: mackerel fillets in tomato sauce with salad

Meal 3: left over curry with cauliflower rice

Need to stop eating earlier in the evening

Exercise: need to devise myself a home workout programme which will involve lifting boxes in the garage and taking stuff up into the loft!

Happy eating everyone

I fell off the wagon yesterday - geez that was quick!! My excuse (I'm allowed one right?!)... dealing with family issues. I wasn't close to home and obviously not prepared so I caved and ate cheese-less pizza. I'm so bummed!! But I need to drill it into my head, prep, prep, prep!!!! So I'm not stuck in the situation again.

Tonight will be tough as I'm going to a birthday party. Give me the strength to say NO!!!

Day 1 again...
