Lori R
Help, my husband and I are doing the Whole 30 together and we are on day 11. I was drinking between 6-8 diet cokes a day and had a sugar filled diet. I have completely cut out the diet coke and switched to water, which has helped with the bloating feelings. I am frustrated because my husbands clothes are already starting to hang loose on him and mine haven't changed at all. I have about 35 pounds to lose and was really hoping for a start on that during this 30 days.... I am wondering if I am doing something wrong. We are basically eating the same things. A typical day is like this: breakfast- 2-3 whole eggs, or chicken with sweet potato (I don't really care for eggs) Lunch - 1/4 chicken breast with sweet potato, or chicken salad with homemade mayo snack - carrot sticks, or almond butter - I am usually pretty hungry about 3 and then again around 7 dinner - some kind of protein with vegetables. I have been feeling very hungry about 2-3 in the afternoon but other then that pretty good. I was eating cashews but have cut them out over the past 4 days due to high calories. Any ideas would be very helpful. Thanks
Krista Billows Rodriguez
You might want to try increasing your veggies at each meal. They should be the dominant feature of your plate. Maybe try adding kale and mushrooms to your sweet potato for breakfast, I scramble those together almost daily. Lunch may need a little extra fat, do you like avocado? It's one of my favorite lunch additions. A big salad with tuna and homemade mayo is one of my favs. I think you're wise to cut out the nuts, they really are high calorie and a lot of people have trouble with them. But try not to compare your results to your husband's. A man's metabolism is different than ours. I know mine can drop weight easily while it seems to cling to my body, so annoying! Carlaccini
Hmmm.... Hard to really say here. Meals seam a little light on fat and veggies ....... Recommendation - stay away from nuts. They make a lot of people feel bloated and uncomfortable....use them as an emergency source or use them as an ingriendient on things.
missmary
more veggies for sure, but also more protein, I think. 1/4 of a chicken breast for lunch? I'm pretty sure your palms are bigger than that. Make sure your protein portion is at least as large as one palm every meal--also more variety on protein might be a good idea. Grass-fed beef, lamb, organ meats, etc. would be great additions. SpinSpin
I have at least 2 cups of veg PER meal and don't get caught in the trap thinking you have to have eggs for Meal 1. Look at having left overs, soup, curries, salads--be creative! You for sure need more than 1/4 a chicken breast at lunch! I would change up your protein choices--what about making a bunch of meatballs and having those instead? Search the forum for Mason Jar Salads--which is a wonderful concept where you pack a salad in a Mason Jar (wide mouth) and they last all week! I am so adding those to my cook ups! I would also look at adding more fats--coconut oil, olive oil, whole 30 mayo, avocados, and olives. If you eat more and add more fat, you will have better success slaying the hunger dragon in the afternoon.

Avalanche
Also - generally speaking men often lose weight faster than women. They usually have more muscle mass, which elevates their metabolism. I can't tell you how many guys I know who are able to drop 20 lbs by "just cutting out soda" or something like that. Women's bodies often take longer to adjust, and depending on what kind of shape you are in, your body probably isn't burning as many calories on a given day as your husband. Plus you are only on day 11 - it often takes a while for your body to adjust to this new way of eating. Many folks do lose weight, but Whole30 is not specifically designed to be a weightloss program, it is designed to improve your general health. Some people drop a dramatic amount of weight, some only a few lbs, some none at all. Don't let slow progress = NO progress in your head. Think about the other ways your body might be changing for the better. And don't make the same mistake I did and weigh yourself before the end of your 30 days - it can put you on an emotional rollecoaster that messes with your hormones and psych you out. Susan W
I agree with all of the above and especially MissMary. More food. More of a variety. You shouldn't be hungry between meals. In a sense, with 2 snacks a day, you are grazing which is one thing W30 helps us get away from. Men have this annoying thing I like to call mantabolism. Ignore it. :0)
MelliebuStacey
Everything I'd suggest has pretty much been covered! Remember too that this is about so much more than losing weight. It's about changing your life!
