MonaLisaSmile
I completed my first successful Whole30 (actually 29 days but I planned it that way since I was going to be traveling on day 30). Now I'm trying a second full Whole30 (yes 30 days this time) and I'm really struggling. I've started and then derailed at least twice the last two weeks. Today I was on Day 7 and doing well until I helpd myself to some pizza and cookie cake. I can't seem to get my mind of all the things I'm not eating -- something that didn't happen during my firt Whole30. Cravings weren't that bad. I was sleeping great and I had a ton of energy. This time around my energy, sleeping, everything just seems to be off. You would think it would be easier the second time around. I'm really gettting tired of lanching Day 1 all over again. Samphire
What's your big why for doing a second one? What do you want to get out of it? If you are doing it 'just because' you might find need to dig a bit deeper and find your real motivation, which will help you stay on track when it gets a bit routine and not as exciting. Mom2A&M
Ugh, I feel the same way. I am eating worse than pre W30 and just can't get back on track. I plan meals and don't eat them, buy produce and stare at it instead of cooking it. I thought it would be easier the second time too. My digestion is way off kilter and I feel like I want to improve that. I thought that would be enough motivation but I continue to fed my body garbage and I get garbage back. I need to find my mojo again!
kb0426
My goal with my first whole30 was to "just do it" to prove to myself I could. Like Samphire stated above, now you have to establish some goals other than that. You KNOW you CAN get through this, but it becomes easier to just say "to heck with it." Clear cut goals may help you navigate. I will give you my favorite analogy. If I sent you in your car with directions to a destination, yet never told you where you were going...if the complicated directions were getting you lost by "step 7" you may just say "to heck with it" then too. Figure out where you car is going .
Kirsteen
To be honest i think this is a fairly common problem, I know it's one I had i think KBs post above is absolutely brilliant. The first time round it's all new and wonderful, there's the novelty factor, you're learning so much, you're dermined to prove you can do it. The second time, well frankly, you've been there, done that, you know you can do it, you've nothing left to prove, frankly it can get a bit boring, and you remember some of the problems you had, you deserve some slack, etc. etc. As KB said, you really need to stop and think exactly why are you doing this, what are your goals, what do you want to get out of it. Remind yourself - you were worth it the first time, you're every bit as much worth it now . The first time I did it, I'd subscribed to the daily emails, they really helped, so the second time (this might sound corny but it really helped) I dug them out (I'd saved them all) and posted one to myself each night before I went to bed. In the morning opening it, rereading it, really helped set me up for the day. So, stop and tell yourself what a wonderfully strong person you are, be proud of how you managed it the first time, set clear goals and use any tricks you can to motivate yourself. good luck - you can do it
