littlemisspretty
So I am at day 29 (almost day 30) and my sugar dragon is kicking up full force. I was planning on giving my self a free day then starting a second round. For those more experienced, would it just be better to keep goin for a whole 45 or whole 60 instead of giving in to the dragon? TIA!! Kim Christensen
I would just extend. With one of the goals of your W30 being to slay that dragon, giving yourself a free day right when it is roaring, goes against that long term goal. And know its not an accident that you're having a sugar dragon issue on day 29. Your mind is a powerful force
JJB
Oh yeah I wouldn't give in. I've done that several times since my W30 ended and I certainly regret it. You don't need sugar in your life and maybe if you can do it, it would be best to continue on until you are no longer counting the days when you can 'cheat.' Xandra
Like ISWF outlines, the sugar addiction has 2 parts: 1. The dopamine that kicks in when you think about [insert favorite sweet], and 2. The endorphins that are released when you eat the stuff. If your sugar dragon is roaring now in your head, then part 1 is still alive, and you will be powerless if you introduce part 2. You will not eat "just one" and stop, you will eat the bag. My latest binge lasted 5 days. So really, why do that to yourself? If you're like me, you will need to go a long, long, long time before reintroducing sugar. It needs to get to the point where your brain doesn't hyperventilate thinking about [favorite sweet] but treats it like a can of sardines, take it or leave it. I can think about jellybeans like that, but put cake frosting in front of me, and I'm finished. It may be a year before I can face that.
Kirsteen
What everyone else has said . As the book says, you can't fight a sugar dragon, you can only starve it into submission. If yours is still roaring (and most do louder than ever just before they die) then feeding it for a day is only going to make it stronger and make your next W30 soooooo much harder. You deserve to make it as easy as possible, so be strong now and it will get easier. good luck
