Jana Wilson Smith
I made an amazing crockpot carnitas recipe last night that included garlic, spices, salt, lime juice, orange juice and 12 oz beer for 10 hour simmer in crock pot... Is that whole30 compliant? I know the alcohol cooks off. Just not sure about the hops component... Thoughts?
Kirsteen
'Fraid not. The alcohol doesn't actually all cook off. There is no alcohol at all allowed on a W30 whether it's in cooking, a marinade, or vanila extract or anything. It's a no go.
Carlaccini
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but alcohol - even in cooking is not considered on plan.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted April 3, 2013 Moderators Share Posted April 3, 2013 And wait, there's more. Even if every last vapor of alcohol cooked away, beer would surely leave something of the grains with which it was made.
