little_muffin
I have been asked to do a list of can/can't have for the chef at school and I really want to exhaust every avenue and there will be loads I've forgotten. JJB
Might want to list some of the more common oils that are a no-go. Also add nuts and olives to the OK list?
HealthyHappy
And classify peanuts as a legume...most people think it's a nut!

Megan H
A lot of balsamic vinegars contain added sulphites (and I reckon any brand used by the school definitely would) so may be safer to leave that off the list if you're aiming for 100% compliance. eating4balance
I would specify your stance on juice. Also for condiments/seasonings: apple cider vinegar, white wine vinegar, and tamari (wheat free soy sauce). And shouldn't all canned or frozen fruits/vegetables be okay as long as there is no sugar? Robin Strathdee
Wow. I'm going to take a different approach here and suggest that you give them basic instructions that will set everyone up for success. Our "rules" at school are as simple as no gluten, dairy, soy or HFCS. We have those rules because I know those are the biggest offenders where behavior is concerned. However, if you want to be a bit more detailed with them, I would go as far as: No gluten Dairy Legumes (soy, peanuts, lentils, beans) No added sweeteners I wouldn't get as complicated as ingredients in vinegar or additives in canned foods (unless one of the above). The simpler you can make it, the better chance you have for full compliance on their part
little_muffin
Full compliance on their part is what i'm going for so I want to make it as simple as possible. I like your idea Robin.
