EccentricOwl
My already slender husband voluntarily agreed to do the Whole30 with me, but has been concerned because he has been trying to add weight to his 5'10" frame and has instead lost about 6 pounds in the last 16 days. We've tried giving him more fats and starchy veggies, but either we aren't feeding him enough amounts, or we need to try something else. He eats till he's full, plus snacks of fruit+nut butter. Any suggestions? We need some variety to keep him from getting bored, too. If he loses any more than 4 pounds as we keep going, he will quit. EccentricOwl
Additional info: we eat protein with every meal and try to cook up more fiberous veggies for him as well.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted April 7, 2013 Moderators Share Posted April 7, 2013 Three thoughts: One - Stop weighing. You don't get accurate information on a day to day basis. By weighing frequently you create all kinds of distortions through stress. Two - Follow the meal template - http://whole9life.co...ng-Template.pdf - and not hunger signals for a while. The meal template allows for eating 2 palm-size portions of protein at each meal. Your husband should do his best to eat both. Be careful about relying on salads. They can take up a lot of space on a plate, but don't actually provide many calories. Three - go for 4 or even 5 meals. Adding an entire extra meal is better than snacking on nut butter and fruit. EccentricOwl
Tom, I have told him already not to weigh, but as we saw the effects of weight loss in the way his clothes fit, (aka the tightest loop on his belt doesnt keep up his pants) he checked in. He had never wanted to lose weight. I don't weigh myself. We do follow the meal template. I have it tacked on my fridge. Eating extra seems to be the only solution, but he already does that and still the weight loss.
EccentricOwl
Oh, and also we haven't had one salad because neither of us likes them.
