CraftyCarnivore 177
The whole chicken thread made me think…Before W30, my favorite way to cook chicken was Leinie Heinie chicken, or beer can chicken. Open a can of beer, place it in a stand, and place the bird over the can, and cook the whole thing on the grill. De-freakin'-licious! I'm assuming this is not permitted on W30 (even though it's just “beer vapor†coming out of the can). But has anyone ever tried this method with another canned beverage, like sparkling water? Or can you put another vessel in the can compartment and fill it with say chicken broth and lemon?
Derval 3321
Hmm... does this help? http://paleoparents.com/2011/beer-can-chicken/ I know here "cider" is alcoholic, but maybe you could use apple juice.
Sharon Simpson Thumann 378
Hard cider here is alcoholic, otherwise we have regular apple cider should be fine.

Susan W 3553
Aha I was right! well if you ever come to Ireland don't give your kids a pint of cider Now that's hilarious. Wonder how many times it's happened?
Egre4926 15
Would a can of soda water work in place of the beer? I'm assuming that its just extra moisture so not to dry the chicken out? But I've never made beer can chicken before @Derval - how I miss proper cider. Americans "hard" cider just isn't the same!!
