My coconut oil melted. Toss it?

Recommended Posts

Well the weather in DC is nice and I left all of the windows in my apartment open for fresh air today instead of air conditioning.

I keep my coconut oil in a closed cupboard in the kitchen but I guess the apartment temperature is in the high 70s (not hot, but not exactly cool).

I went to use my coconut oil tonight and when I opened it, the entire jar was liquid.

Does that mean it is bad? Should I be throwing this away and buying a new one? (sigh)

The coconut oil I bought a few weeks ago also liquefied during the warm weather of the last few days. It's cooler today so it's starting to solidify again. Unless it's past the expiration date, or lingering in the cabinet for a very long time, I wouldn't throw it out. It's fine, IMO.
