galny
Hi, I'm Leslie and planning on starting the 22nd as well. Feeling a bit anxious after having a couple of false starts last month but hoping it will be an easier go with support!!

Angela Marie
Hi, I started yesterday as well. I've had one unsuccessful attempt & one successful Whole30, but I'm actually doing a Whole90 this time as an effort to help myself recover from severe adrenal fatigue...so I have a long way to go and a great reason for doing it. How is everyone feeling? I'm feeling a little bit of detox symptoms today, but I know it's temporary.
Lswan76
Hi there! I am Leslie too, and I started Monday as well. This will be my 2nd whole30, successfully completed one back in October. Already noticed that I am sleeping "harder" than before. How is everyone feeling for day 3?
Jenny35
Hello All! I started my first Whole 30 on Monday, as well. This is a HUGE change of habits for me (I was drinking wine every evening, coffee with cream and honey for breakfast, and pasta, bread and cheese were my unholy trinity of go-to foods --yikes!). I have to say I'm feeling pretty great mood wise on this 3rd day in, but am also trying to stay cautiously optomistic and prepared for trouble if/ when it arises. I just want to wish everyone here the best, and remind you if ever you find your enthusiasm starting to fade, to keep in mind how GREAT we'll all be feeling by Memorial Day Weekend! GuamGrly
Love the optimism and great attitude Jenny! AFM...day 3 seems to be pretty good. Luckily, I haven't felt any detox symptoms just yet. It seems as though I slept much harder last night than I ever have but I'm feeling a little more tired today. My energy level yesterday was pretty good. I refuse to throw in the towel though. I'm notorious for saying that I'm going to do something but don't follow through with it. I want this to be the time that I finish something! The outcome will be amazing too!! Stay on track everyone!!
MP06
Hi everyone, I also started on Monday and This is my first WHOLE 30. It's been going well. Taking one day at a time, yet with each passing day I feel more confident that I can make it all 30 days. I do have a slight headache today, I'm thinking I'm a little dehydrated and trying to increase my water intake hoping that will solve it. other than that I'm feeling good! -Meri
MP06
Today is day 8 for us. I'm curious, how is everyone doing?
Jenny35
Hi Meri! Yesterday (Day 7) really KICKED MY BUTT. I had a migraine and body pain which became more intense as the day went on. I was thirsty but the more water I drank the more parched I seemed to get. I went to Whole Foods for some Natural Calm (Magnesium) hoping that would help. I took way too much (which led to some stomach issues ), and it only helped a little. I tried a hot bath, aromatherapy, yoga, massaging my acupressure points. . . finally at 1:00 am I had to take two advil (I really wanted to avoid medication), and was able to sleep. I still feel a slight throbbing in my head, pain in my body and overall very weak today, but I'm soldiering on and hoping things will turn around soon. I have to say I really wasn't expecting such a painful detox. How are you doing, Meri? How's everyone else? I hope all is well!
MP06
Hi Jenny35, Oh no!?!?! (btw, um yes. I would of done the same thing as you at 1am) I'm so sorry to hear that yesterday was such an awful day, I'm hoping today and everyday after is better. After reading a few entries in this forum, it's pretty clear that though we are following the same program our bodies respond differently at various stages in our journey. I can say that my biggest worry before starting W30 was me sticking to the plan (seriously- before W30 I seemed to always be hungry) and I'm happy to say that I have stayed on track eating what I need to eat, when I need to eat it. Of course the change didn't come without symptoms. As I mentioned before, on day 3 I had a slight head ache and day 6 a headache tried to creep in and ruin my day, revealing that the headache could of been due to not eating on time. I'm just glad it went away and from then forward tried to be more consistant with meal times. Another thing I have noticed is that my patience does not last very long. Boy oh boy, I feel like I've regressed and become a teenager! Why is my control out the window? Then again- that's probably the transition my body is making at regulating my hormones. On the Positive side, since day 2, all of my bodily aches and pains are gone, and my facial acne has cleared up completely. I'm definitely looking forward to the improvements Week 2 has to bring. (hopefully it includes moving out of my teenage emotional hangups and into an adult/balanced state of mind, ha ha). I am confident that we'll look back and view these hurdles as turning points on our road to improving our health and lifestyle.
Jenny35
Meri, You said: "I can say that my biggest worry before starting W30 was me sticking to the plan (seriously- before W30 I seemed to always be hungry) and I'm happy to say that I have stayed on track eating what I need to eat, when I need to eat it. " That's great-- way to go! I was always thinking about food and what I was craving, and was sure that this would be a major issue for me, but I am so satisfied by my meals that I can barely make myself eat the next one at the appropriate time. What a huge difference! I had a moment (around day 4, I think?) when I went totally manic "teenager-style" as well. Ha ha, it was brief but INTENSE. I am feeling much better as this 8th day is winding down; thank you so much for the support! I hope you find your emotionally-balanced happy place real soon too. Oh, and I also totally agree with this: "I am confident that we'll look back and view these hurdles as turning points on our road to improving our health and lifestyle". -AMEN to that! Have a good night and keep me posted on your progress! That goes for everyone else here too. Jenny

Jenny35
That's great to hear, Meri! I hope everyone else is doing well too. I'm feeling pretty alright. Jenny35
Hi Ladies! 17 days in. . .anybody feeling tiger blood coursing through their veins? I've been sleeping well and maintaining pretty steady energy levels. How's everyone else doing?
MP06
Good day Everyone! How is everyone doing? I'm doing great! I seriously can't believe we are on day 17! I sort of stopped counting after day 12 and that's a good thing. Mostly because I can see myself doing this for a very long time. I am elated with my symptomatic results thus far. I have mental clarity at all hours of the day. I have the energy and endurance for my moderate and strenuous workouts and I'm getting creative with my meals. The latter is a pretty big deal because my kitchen experiments have previously (pre-w30) ended in disasters. LOL. Does anyone have any easy mindblowing recipes they'd like to share? Jenny35
That's awesome Meri! This has definitely changed the way I will eat (and cook) for the long term as well. Last night I noticed that I had quite a lot of odds & ends in my fridge & freezer, so I made an Asian inspired concoction that my non-Whole 30 brother even enjoyed. I started by scrambling and lightly browning 2 eggs, some diced onion & coconut aminos in coconut oil, and then cutting it (a flat omelet essentially) into little pieces. Then I put a few cloves of garlic, pieces of ginger & sundried tomatoes into my little food processor and then into the frying pan I used for the eggs. I sauteed that stuff with some cabbage & carrots (from one of those ready made bags of coleslaw) and a few diced mushrooms. Then I added some more frozen mixed veggies, small shrimp, a squeeze of orange juice, a tablespoon of raw almond butter, coconut aminos and hot pepper flakes. When everything was fully cooked I scooped it onto plates with some thinly sliced snap peas, basil, the egg strips and some crushed macadamia nuts. Kind of like a mix of pad thai, chinese stir-fry and a partially remembered recipe from "Well Fed" by Melissa Joulwan. Oh, and my favorite salad for work has fresh greens (romaine, spring, baby kale--whatever), meat (chicken, steak--again, whatever) roasted red pepper slices, half a sweet potato, kalamata olives, half an avocado and balsamic & olive oil. I love, love, love it! I'm interested to hear what others have been cooking / making, too. Hope everyone has a wonderful Day 18!
kaiser179
Hi Everyone! I just found this thread, and I also started on April 22nd. This whole forum has been such a great tool for finding support and motivation! Days 1 thru 4 were hard, then things have been better for me. I have my weak moments, but so far, so good! My desire to snack is waning, I have more energy, and I think my moods have actually been more stable. I have been loving homemade mayo and ranch dressing, and definitely avocados Happy Day! Jenny35
Hi kaiser179! Your experience sounds pretty similar to others (myself included) on this thread-- glad things are going well. The homemade mayo is so good! I want to try to make the spicy curry sauce my local Irish pub serves with french fries, minus the french fries, of course. I'm thinking homemade mayo with curry powder, some hot sauce and maybe some coconut aminos? I guess I'll have to work on it--ha!
MP06
Hi Everyone! Day 23, What, WHAT!?!?!?! I am excited about what w30 has done for me and I hope it's making gradual changes in your lives as well. Jenny35: Just reading your recipe made me salivate. Ha ha ha. I'm going to try a variation of your "Asian inspired concoction" on the weekend. My go to breakfast has been mashed buttercup squashed (with a tablespoon of ghee, salt & pepper to taste) and hard boiled eggs. This breakfast makes me happy... Now let me add, to my surprise, my sister in law made me some banana pancakes and they were 100% compliant and sweet. If you want to add something different to your rotation I suggest you try it. http://mspaleo.wordpress.com/2013/05/08/nom-nom-nom-paleo-banana-pancakes/ Kaiser179 welcome! I too can relate to those first couple of days and I'm glad you got to the other side. I'm going to have to try the homemade mayo everyone has been talking about. Thanks for the suggestion. Keep at it everyone, we are 7 days away from completing the Whole30!
kaiser179
Day 24 ... say what!? I'm feeling a little emotional to have made it this far. I guess there was a little part of me that wondered if I could really do it. This experience is so different than any other attempt I have made at changing my eating habits, either on my own or through WW. I feel really happy and empowered to change to my life! My clothes are fitting so much better, my moods are more even, my energy is definitely improved (especially mid afternoon), I don't have to snack all of the time ... I feel more confident because I am not controlled by food! My sleep has been good, but I'm not getting as much as I should because 1) I have a toddler and 2) my increased energy levels make me want to stay up later! I am a little scared about Day 31 ... I had envisioned ending this program with a "weekend off" and I would eat whatever (and I mean WHATEVER) I wanted. Now ... it seems kinda silly to poison my body like that. I think I will take an approach of moderation and then hop back on for a second W30 after a few days break. I just finally purchased ISWF, and it is a good read! There are some really good take-aways. I've gotten some good quotes from this forum too. My favorites are: You're not a dog, you don't have to reward yourself with food Why would you treat yourself with something that is bad for you? Shouldn't you treat yourself to something good? All of that processed food is NOT food. It is frakenfood. This journey has been amazing ... not without its challenges, but that just makes me all the more proud! Congrats everyone on getting this far!
