missfit
After much contemplation, I have decided to starte today. My tendency has alwasy been to default to protein shakes or other types of foods because they satisfied my sweet tooth and were not as bad for me as some of the other things I could be eating. I need to get a handle on this sweet tooth!

Jeanye Mercer
MIsfit - Good job! The great news is that the Whole30 can definitely help with those sugar cravings! I notice that it becomes less and less of an issue the longer I maintain clean eating as a priority. This article really helped me when I was getting started. http://whole9life.com/2010/05/sugar-tantrums/ Happy eating!
CaveGirl
Hey MissFit, how are you going? I just wanted to say as a hardcore sugar/carb/junk addict the sugar cravings do abate, perhaps not 100% but almost. I still find that I crave sugary things around my time of the month and I did perphaps OD on nuts to start with, but it feels so different now. I no longer have that constant urgent crave for something sweet, and when I do often a coffee with coconut milk calms it down. I have also found a fantastic recipe for Caramelized Coconut Chips which is delicious, the mix of cinamon and salt is magical. I would also highly recommend Melissas' book Well Fed which is Whole30 approved, I don't think I've ever used a cookbook as much as this one before! In addition I decided to treat myself last night to a small bit of Green & Black's organic 85% dark chocolate. In the past I would have found it seriously bitter, but not any more. If anything I found it too sweet. It was delicious filling and I didn't need to devour the entire bar like I would have in the past. My taste buds have completely changed. I can't imagine how they would react to all the junk I used to eat. Anyway the point I am trying to make is that the cravings will go away and your taste buds will change accordingly. Good luck and let us know how you are getting on! CG x
Derval
It is amazing how much our taste buds change when we kick the sugar, the thought of eating regular milk chocolate now grosses me out...BUT pre W30 I still had issues , even with 85%, once I had it in the house, I had to have it every day. I don't binge on it, maybe only 20g at a time but my reliance on it was the issue....Not sure how I'll tackle it post W30.
