dukunbayi
Ha ha ha, Derval! They are much cuter that I felt yesterday. Forget PMS. I feel like I'm getting PMP in my middle age.... premenstrual psychosis. Hate it.  I did not get through the night unscathed. Yesterday I also made coconut cookies from Practical Paleo thinking that would constiture "harm reduction" and help me not stray too far. However, at work there were Reeses, and those chocolate jelly things, which ordinarily I find gross. I don't understand the 90/10% thing, or the folks who can keep keep focused with only minor forays into the badlands. I am so all or nothing... I'm boring even myself with the dramatics. Ho hum. Slogging along.

Beets
Maybe it'd help to put some self-imposed boundaries? I plan to not have any grains (or paleofied grain-like foods) at all unless it's a special occasion. I noticed today, Day 34ish, that once I broke down the barriers eating dairy and sugar and booze last night, that my mind wanted me to just eat everything. Having some barriers will help I hope! I noticed today, Day 34ish, that once I broke down the barriers eating dairy and sugar and booze last night, that my mind wanted me to just eat everything. Having some barriers will help I hope! What is this thing you call "barriers?" lol. I so wish I could do so successfully. I'm weak!!!!!! Aaaaaargh!!! I think my barriers and boundaries need to be w30 forever for the rest of my life no matter what forever. I think I would have been better born into a society with strict rules... I dunno, maybe Amish or something. I do have to brag about my ingenuity yesterday. I was very proud of myself. On the way out the door to work in the morning I grabbed a bunch of kale that was starting to yellow, a jar of wood-fired peppers, a bottle of apple cider vinegar, and a tin of smoked sardines. At work I looked up a recipe for kale salad, and scavenged the rest of the ingredients: honey, olive oil, and an apple. I also found 2 HB eggs, and was given a hunk of chicken breast from a co-worker. I put it all together and, voila! Then I did some emotional eating with those icky chocolate fruit things, and then felt gross and berated myself. And on it goes. Day off today. Got my son to the start of his 8th grade retreat, came home and crashed again till noon. Heaven after a 15h work day yesterday. Do-list today: putter. dukunbayi
I puttered, I cleaned, I ran a few errands, I hung out with my man who was home building beehives, I took the dog to the park. Good food today. Here's dinner, Mahi Mahi pan seared (sort of) in ghee on a bed of sweet potato & shroom hash which is almost gone, and carrots and brussels sprouts sauteed in avocado oil with Sunny Paris seasoning. Tasty, easy. Leftovers packed for lunch tomorrow. I am using a smaller plate in an effort to control portions. If I had a platter, I would fill it. And really, I think I eat too much for my current activity level.
Nadia B
So you found SOME eggs after all ahahahah I have done the same thing with the plates and switched to a smaller one. Trick that works 100%. It sounds too diet-y but whatever it takes in order to train the body. Sometimes it really needs discipline.
dukunbayi
So you found SOME eggs after all ahahahah We're getting 2-3 per day in the coop. But they roam freely and there are lots of sneaky hiding places. I have found hidden nests of 8, 10; I once found 20! I know there are dozens somewhere! Maybe the skunks are finding them. I do find shells sometimes. Re: the critters eating up my garden... we caught 3 squirrels, two young ones today and an adult last week. Released them at a nearby park. We think there's one more out there. I suggested we cook 'em up. Kidding. But, have any of y'all eaten squirrel?? Food trucks at lunch today and the paleo truck I've been wanting to try was there! http://notsofastfoodtruck.com I had wild boar burger with bacon and avo, plantain chips, and slaw. Really good! dukunbayi
Die, sugar dragon, die! I am starving you out. Staycation #2 starts today. Food's been good last couple days. Maybe a little grazey, but acceptable. The fridge was bear so I just bought rooty things, squashy/melony things, and green leafy things. And coconut butter. Trying to get in the habit of avoiding fodmaps and thinking AIP. Protein defrosting. Cook-up, anyone? Here's my list of things to learn this staycation (which isn't really a vacation because I have a list a mile long and something take-care-of-businessy and/or new-job-related every day. Nonetheless here are the nuts I want to crack at last: kombucha sauerkraut bone broth That's it, just a quick check-in. List's a'waiting.

It's one of my dreams to run a paleo/WAPF grain-free food truck with local foods and lots of fermented condiments and bevvies- I'd call it Pleasurebelly and have a big fat Buddha with a cowboy hat muraled on the side. That's perfect! May all beings free from suffering, and here, have a boar burger and some dark chocolate covered bacon. I might even road trip it to Amarillo for some of that . Had a 2 hour yoga workshop today with violin and vocal accompaniment which was just so, so lovely. (Man, I gotta do more yoga.) And then a delicioso dinner of roasted chicken with Sunny Paris, beets and fennel, noodled daikon radish and carrot (carro-daikoodles?), on a last minute afterthought-ish bed of beet greens because I realized there was nothing verdant in the mix, and really I should have quick sautéd them. Oh well, lesson learned. Gonna plant some seedlings in the garden tomorrow now that we got all the critters eating it up (7 or 8 squirrels). We caught and released them, one at a time, on a public trail in a nearby canyon. This aging homeless hippy who tends to set up camp by that trail was all, "hey thanks for doing that, dude," ie rather than killing 'em. He probably recycles and composts and surfs. That's SoCal for ya.

dukunbayi
I love me a good food truck. Totally off-roaded it for mom's day. Had sushi and ice cream. Was good. Breakfast today was tuna and avo. Lunch was 2 pieces of leftover dragon roll. Dinner was spaghetti squash, turnips, chard, bison and marinara. Tomorrow, shop for AIP.
dukunbayi
I actually worked out today (applause, yes please, clap clap clap). 3 meals plus pre- and post-WO... that's a lot of eating! I got 2, not 3, main meals in, but I definitely ate plenty. M1: meatza and spinach, coffee/CM pre-wo little piece of meatza and a spoonful of coconut butter post-wo small piece of chicken and mashed turnips pre-M2 baby carrots in the car M2: salad: greens, avo, olives, prosciutto, chicken, EVOO/BV And, wouldn't you know, now that I've started AIP, my chickens are mostly laying in the coop. 5 eggs today. Of course.
dukunbayi
Day 3, Mini AIP Aaaaaaaaand YES, I did work out again today, thank you, thank you very much. It was fairly light kettlebell work for about 40 minutes, just to get the engine going and the joints lubed up, creaky creaky. M1 coffee/cm, meatza, spinach, avo. Small portion, meant to be pre-wo, but then I didn't. M2/actual pre-wo: meatza (large portion, probably just less than 1/3lb beef), spoonful coconut butter. Ate too much pre-w/o for post-wo meal too. I'll get this figured out. M3 bowl full of spaghetti squash heated up in coconut oil, Power to the Greens (thank you, Trader Joe's), half a tin of kippers, olives and a few slices of prosciutto. And wonderful wonderful watermelon. .

dukunbayi
Yes to the dress. Bowl is on my lap. I really didn't plan it! Watermelon was just meant to be today, I guess.
dukunbayi
Day 4 Mini AIP Had a small, late night M4 last night; stayed up late watching a movie: leftover chicken, avo, beets. Slept late. Very, very late. M1: bone broth, mish-mash of kippers, portobello mushrooms fried in duck fat, bacon and greens. Watermelon. Coffee/CM. M2: greens, tuna, avo, olives, bals vin, apple. Shopped, planning a veggie-roasting party tomorrow.
dukunbayi
Mini AIP Day 5 Great day today, better part of it doing yard work and gardening while listening to Paleo View podcasts. Got some vitamin D via our friend the sun, ate great food, walked on the beach. M1: 1c black coffee brought to me in bed by BF, how could I resist? Then bone broth, drumsticks, spaghetti squash with coconut butter, endive drizzled with aged BV. That part was not in bed. No, I got up and cooked that one. M2: seafood medley (mussels, scallops, calamari, shrimp) over beet and daikon radish greens, zucchini and summer squash, and spaghetti squash with saffron, coconut oil, bone broth. M3: Tender Greens marinated steak (olive oil and herbs only, no spices, per the manager), salad of butter lettuce, radishes, yellow beets. Used my own dressing. Ate half and have half to bring to work tomorrow. Staycation #2 is over. Weep.
