ChildoftheKing7777
Am I going to get arrested by the whole30 police if I don't use EVOO? I just can't stand the taste!! What would I be missing out on, nutritionally, if I used light tasting OO?
Beets
What are you using it for? I ask because it's not recommended to be used in cooking. So unless you are talking about salad dressing or something cold there's no requirement to use it. Coconut oil, lard and tallow from healthy animals is better for cooking because OO oxidizes (or turns rancid) at higher temps. If you are using it for something cold (mayo?) people do use the lighter oils. However, the lighter tasting olive oil is more refined. You would not want to use it as your main cooking/eating fat. I guess it depends on the extraction method (expeller pressed? cold pressed?) and the quality of oil but I don't believe there is a major nutritional difference. Moderators Tom Denham Posted April 27, 2013 Moderators Share Posted April 27, 2013 I go weeks at a time without eating any EVOO. No big deal.
ChildoftheKing7777
no, I'm not cooking with it. Putting it on salads. And I just can't do it.
Beets
I think it has slightly less of the "good stuff" v EVOO but I'd definitely spend the money to get one that's higher quality and not chemically refined. I don't think olive oil does well with chemical extraction but you never know what companies will do to save money.
