Niccole Peralta
I'm kinda nervous asking since I was thinking of making a seafood salad this weekend. Any thoughts?
befabdaily
There's all sorts of crap in there. Get some shrimp or something. Depending on the desired texture and flavor of the surimi product, the gelatinous paste is mixed with differing proportions ofadditives such as starch, egg white, salt, vegetable oil, humectants, sorbitol, sugar, soy protein, seasonings, and enhancers such as transglutaminases and monosodium glutamate (MSG). Niccole Peralta
That sounds disgusting. Perhaps I'll just opt for the real thing. We can have real crab right?

Moderators Tom Denham Posted May 3, 2013 Moderators Share Posted May 3, 2013 Real crab is great. I make crab salad every once in a while. I make canned salmon salad several times per week and there is always canned tuna salad. If you want to make a seafood salad on a budget with fresh ingredients, you could use any kind of white fish, including tilapia. But imitation anything tends to be dicey. Susan W
Niccole I have heard costco has a great price on pints of crab. It comes in a plastic container and is in the fridge section. I come from the land of Dungeness crab and I almost fainted when I looked at the price of shelled crab here. The lady in the store watching me almost faint told me about the costco crab.
