Who Wants Ghee??

THIS girl!!

I found a 2lb log of Amish butter at the local food co-op so I made ghee to last me a few months...maybe! ;-)

How long do you think 4 cups would last you???

Not long. I make it 2 cups at a time and it lasts me a month? Longer right now because I am a little obsessed with my beef tallow.

I think I need to make Ghee - it's getting very expensive to just buy it.

My favorite way is in the oven. I take 1lb organic butter from gf cows. Put it in a heavy pot. I use my Le Creuset. Put in 300 degree oven until the bits are dark brown but not black. It takes 1 hour and 10-15 minutes in my oven. No stirring necessary. Strain through cheesecloth and slather it on everything.
