Jenn B
I am post 30 days, not doing a 100 days or anything, just opted to not to reintroduce, nothing I miss or need to eat in those food categories (except my new endocronologist wants me to take calcium supplements since I told him I no longer eat dairy- should I be re-adding dairy on a small daily scale?). I am content with my body, bmi... I don't stress out if something is made with canola oil... if I ingest it occasionally, and I have successfully avoided dessert in multiple environments, my children baking cookies, I am great at navigating in restaurants... My concern is when I get stressed out (over stupid little things, such as having a fasting blood work tomorrow morning for possible Thyroid condition) anything can become food without breaks- like grape tomatoes, red bell pepper, plaintain chips: binging. I am not feeling like I have a sugar dragon (pistachio nuts do it for me to), it's like I have crunch or a salt dragon! This definitely happens at certain points w/in the month (hormonally) and I will throw dates into the mix (big mistake to buy them at Costco). Honestly, right now, I am just writing to keep myself away from going back in the kitchen- and occupy myself with other tasks, and maybe make a cup of tea. I don't know what I need right now... agghhhh.
Jinkse21
Jenny, I am right there with ya! I am post-W30 and I am still following it with a few re-introductions here and there. I do not have a sugar dragon either but nuts are definitely a food with no brakes for me! I can have them in the house but if portion them out then put the bag away, I am ok. I find that when I get stressed, cooking helps me out a lot which has been helpful with W30! I also try to find things like crocheting, coupon clipping or playing on my iPad to keep me busy and away from the foods that I may keep eating non-stop. One of the purposes of W30 is not just about slaying the sugar dragon but gaining a better relationship with food. Is that food really helping ease your stress? No. But, if you are like me, I used to it prove that there was something I could have/control and nobody could tell me otherwise. I might not have control over my RA or my car breaking down; but, by god, I could eat super-sized McD's fries if I wanted! I admit that I still have those days but they are far and few between. I am trying to find other outlets to relieve stress and how I deal with it. Good luck on figuring out what works for you to be a happy, healthier you!! 1Maryann
I will look for my calcium chart later. The dairy myth lives, even in the medical field. Truth be told, the calcium in cow's milk is much less bio-available than the calcium in vegetables. While dairy may contain much more calcium than say, collard greens, your body actually absorbs more calcium from plant sources than it does from milk. No other species on earth routinely consumes milk after weaning--let alone milk from a different species. That alone ought to tell us something about the necessity of dairy in the human diet.
