Meilani Clay
I had no idea this part of the forum existed! What a way to get support and be accountable. Anywho, I'm on Day 7 of my first Whole 30 and I'm feeling pretty good. I have a headache today but I believe it's due to dehydration rather than withdrawal. I'm still waiting for my energy levels to even out but thankfully my hunger levels have gotten much more consistent. I'm currently on 4-5 meals a day because 3 was leaving me truly hungry. Currently what I notice has gotten better is: -less sugar craving -better sleep -more satisfaction after meals (as in I'm hungry hours later rather than 20-30 mins.) Today's meals: 1: 3 eggs with ground pork and a tomato 2: carrots and olives with 2 hardboiled eggs 3: big salad with tuna 4: steak with salad and sweet potato I realize my portions are vague but besides meal 1 none of these have happened yet. calee
You're doing great. I'm on Day 9 and find that my hunger is really satisfied with three meals right now. I do still have mouth hunger, but rarely stomach hunger. Keep posting. This is a wonderful forum!

Meilani Clay
Boy, the emotional side of this whole journey is no joke! I have been having the harshest thoughts about myself these last couple of days. It's been very difficult to not turn to food or wine when the stress of trying to overturn years of bad eating habits is getting me down. I've been careful to not have any fruit when I feel blue, just so that I'm not reinforcing the sad=sugar cycle I've gotten myself into. It's especially hard because I haven't quite turned the corner into the "magic zone" just yet. I'm trying to be patient because I am feeling better, just not feeling fantastic yet. Just wanted to post about some of the emotions running through my head because in three weeks I want to be able to look back and be amazed at how much more stable I feel. On a postive note, not using food when I'm bored has resulted in me deep cleaning my kitchen instead!
Susan W
Dear sugar-dragon slayer, My kitchen needs a deep clean so I (being so generous) offer it up to you the next time you are craving or bored. ;0)
calee
Hang in there and I know you'll see amazing changes at the end of this 30. They may be subtle, but still amazing. I too am getting to witness my behavior. I think I had my sugar dragon pretty well slayed before starting, but even that very occasional square of dark chocolate has called to me a bit. What I'm seeing is how I used mini bell peppers as my big go to snack. I love the crunch of them. I'm not eating hem because I'm off nightshades as part of my 30 and boy am I missing them. The first week I was all about the nuts for crunch. So NOT a good idea. Take care, we're all in this together.
Meilani Clay
Day 13 and the magic is starting to kick in! I'm comfortably eating three meals a day on most days. 10 days ago I wouldn't have thought my body would be running this way now. Typically I only have to add a fourth meal if my breakfast is too small. My cravings are almost gone, which is huge. The only reason they're sticking around is because I'm a cashier at a specialty foods shop so I see and smell non whole 30 food all day long. Part of what helps me stay strong in the face of lots of free "food with no brakes" is seeing customers who start to roll in around 4 and 5pm for sweets and sodas as their "afternoon pick me up." It reminds me of how far I've come and keeps me wanting to push forward!
kew
" mouth hunger, but rarely stomach hunger." I love that phrasing and am going to steal borrow it!
Meilani Clay
Motivation took a dive out of nowhere. Can't really pin it on anything specific. Maybe this is the mark at which I usually quit anything? In the past I've tried weight watchers, joining the gym, strict 1200 calories a day diets, etc. and it usually takes me just a couple weeks to stop. I'm on day 15 and I definitely feel old cravings coming back. It's really frustrating.
Physibeth
Don't quit! Stay strong and push through this! Might be time to try a new and exciting recipe or just a new vegetable or meat. Focus on the positives! You can do it!
