PamH
Just wanted to introduce myself: I'm on Day 12 of Whole30. I've had the book for over 6 months and finally decided to give it a try. I've been on-off Paleo for a year now but I just couldn't seem to conquer the sugar addiction. I am at a healthy weight, but I'm finding it harder and harder to maintain a healthy body as I age. I've been nearly gluten free for several years but let me tell you it is easy to eat a lot of sugar when you are gluten free! I'm 48 and in the middle of perimenopause. For the past 2 months I've been having up to 20 hot flashes per day/night. My sleep stinks as a result. How excited do you think I am to say the hot flashes are going away! Last night I remember having ONE. We have stumbled onto something here... Real foods taste sweeter suddenly. I still need to focus on calorie intake/portions, but for now I'm happy with the fact my sugar cravings are greatly reduced, and I hope to erase the habit I have of popping handfuls of dark chocolate chips or needing that fatty-sugar taste in my mouth after a meal. Enough said. I'm just happy I took the book back off the shelf. ~Pam
Kirsteen
Well done Pam. Yes I went gluten free about 13 years ago and for ages ate a lot of gluten free food mostly chemicals and sugar It's really freeing to just avoid all that. One word, however, don't even think about measuring calorie intake, just stick to the meal template http://whole9life.com/book/ISWF-Meal-Planning-Template.pdf and you'll be fine. Good luck with the rest of your W30
PamH
One word, however, don't even think about measuring calorie intake, just stick to the meal template http://whole9life.co...ng-Template.pdf and you'll be fine. Good luck with the rest of your W30 Thank you, Kirsteen. I am an eating disorder child of the 80's, so calorie counting is one of the things I have struggled to dump. I'm not weighing myself or counting calories anymore! I probably should have weighed myself prior to starting the Whole30 just for curiosity's sake, but decided not to mess with success. And you are in Scotland? I love the internet!
calee
Welcome Pam. I'm on day 12 today. The thing that I am trying to heal is my sleep. I have been off and on sleep meds since menopause. I hope this helps balance my hormones so that I can once again have good sleep all the time. If a few pounds leave me, that will just be a bonus. Many of us are keeping logs over in that section of this forum. There's great upportive there as well.
