Milkyway's post W30 log

Recommended Posts

I'm starting this log on day 7 of reintroduction. I had milk last Wednesday with not much of a reaction, but the wheat I had last Saturday... that's a different story. I want to keep track of my reactions with this log and also hope it'll help stopping my snacking habit if I have to write down everything I eat.

So here we go with a recap of the last week:

Day 1 (Wed, Oct 02): Lactose -> Verdict: Re-test with bigger amounts

  • Coffee with 2oz 2% milk and 1oz plain yoghurt with breakfast
  • Coffee with 2oz 2% milk with lunch
  • 2 oz plain yoghurt with dinner
  • Slightly gassy
  • No other noticeable reaction
  • Weight: 73 kg (down from 76.5 pre W30)

Day 2 (Thu, Oct 03): W30

  • Strong sugar cravings in the afternoon
  • No other reactions

Day 3 (Fri, Oct 4): W30

  • Slight sugar cravings in the afternoon

Day 4 (Sat, Oct 5): W30

  • Back to ‘normal'

Day 5 (Sun, Oct 6): Gluten (Wheat) -> Verdict: no more wheat for me, test other gluten-grains later

  • 1 slice Ciabatta (about 2 oz) with breakfast
    • No noticeable reaction
  • 1.5 oz pasta (uncooked weight) with lunch
    • We let the pasta push the veggies of the plate – not good
    • Feeling unwell after lunch: Tight feeling, abdominal pressure and moderate abdominal pain
  • Ciabatta-burger with dinner
    • No more pain, but feeling slightly nauseous

Day 6 (Mon, Oct 7)

  • Very tired in the morning (like it used to be pre W30), despite ok night (N nursed at 11:30 and at 4), puffy eyes
  • Difficulty concentrating at work
  • Piercing headaches all day (took 325mg Tylenol)
  • Occasional light-headedness and dizziness
  • Abdominal discomfort, no digestive issues
  • Feet hurt again when getting up, was way better during W30 (Starting during my pregnancy my feet hurt if I sit with my legs up or lie for a while. It'll make me limp the for the first few steps, then the pain goes away)
  • Couldn't fall asleep, restless leg
  • Coffee with 1oz 2% milk in afternoon
  • Made Ghee the first time! Haven't tried it yet.

Day 7 (Tue, Oct 8): W30

  • Very tired in the morning, despite ok night (N nursed at 12, was up for the day at 5:15), very puffy eyes
  • Slight headache all morning
  • Breakfast: 3 eggs, 1 cup sweet potato/carrot mix, 0.5 cup broccoli, 1 cup cut kale, 1.5 tbs coconut oil, all sautéed together (couldn't finish, left about 1 egg), espresso w/coconut milk at work
  • Lunch: 2 cups Thai Curry (chicken thighs pan-fried in olive oil, carrots, broccoli, mushroom, asparagus, cauliflower rice, peach, compliant curry paste, coconut milk)
  • Planned afternoon meal with Ns snack: Remaining egg, raw carrots, frozen berries w/coconut milk
  • Planned dinner: Sweet Potato Stir Fry (lean ground beef, compliant beef sausage, sweet potato, carrots, broccoli, asparagus, mushrooms, pan-fried in olive oil)

Day 7 continued:

  • Had more nuts than I planned after dinner (plan = 0, actual = 1 closed hand of cashews and almonds)and a 100% fruit bar.
    • Digestive troubles in the afternoon. Same for J, so we think it might be something we ate.
    • J reports strong cravings/feeling hungry all afternoon

Day 8 (Wed): W30

  • Puffy eyes again, headache (J as well)
  • Weight: 72.4 kg
  • Breakfast: Leftover Thai Curry , 1 cup chopped kale, 2 eggs, 1 tbs coconut oil, coffee w/coconut milk
  • At playdate: One bite banana bread with chocolate chips (so good)
  • Lunch: Leftover Sweet Potato Stir Fry
  • Afternoon: 1 large carrot, 1 cup grapes, 1 small hand cashews, 1 decaf w/cm (where is the protein?)
  • Dinner: Salmon, baked sweet potato and bell pepper, tossed in olive oil, baby spinach salad, mushrooms in coconut milk ‘sauce', 1 cup frozen berries in coconut milk
    • No digestive issues despite eating the same as yesterday, was it gluten related after all?

Day 9 (Thu): W30

  • Puffy eyes again, light headache (J as well)
  • Breakfast: Two palm sized veggie patties (mixed grated veggies, almond meal, egg), 3 eggs fried in coconut oil, coffee w/cm
  • Lunch: 2 pieces Spaghetti squash crust quiche with ground beef (compliant) with baked sweet potato and tahini
  • Dinner: Roasted red pepper soup (red peppers, sweet potato, avocado, coconut milk) with compliant sausages
