Kamid
Hi everyone! I’m new to this group, but not new to Whole30. I started Whole30 in June of 2014 and have been working through my new lifestyle ever since. I have Hashimotos and had thyroid cancer in 2009 (total thyroidectomy 9/2009). It has been a mountain climb ever sense. When I found a “Whole30 challenge” via a Facebook group in 2014, I had to try it. Nothing else was working. It was a Godsend! I’ve eaten following The allowable foods ever since, with major exceptions for the last year. Just last month I realized part of my weight gain was due to myxedema (part of hypo-thyroidism). I also realized I was in a full-on Hashi’s flare. The “sneaky” foods I allowed myself to eat had sabotaged my body once again. I have revisited chapters in It Starts With Food (19-20+) and know I have just got to cut those “sneaky” foods (“treats”) out and I’ll be good as new. It’s likely to take a year, but I know it’s not hopeless. I’m looking for inspiration and like minded individuals since I’ve also cut Facebook out, I hope to find it here.
