    Post W30 and learning a LOT

    Thanksgiving was great, I felt in control and happy with my choices. By Saturday, I knew I had consumed too much bread and started to delete that from the diet. Today I am feeling better and finished off the butternut squash with scrambled eggs, tomorrow the turnip and carrot, one of my favorite combinations. Back at the gym, working out with the weights and back on the treadmill, 30 minute intervals are going pretty well. I do have to have at least two eggs on these days though, otherwise I am starving by 10:30. Still using the 1/2 and 1/2 in coffee occasionally, but no sugar. I made pea soup for the family but probably won't have any, the split peas may be too much at the moment. It smells great though.
  2. Good luck, I like the part of taking a break from eggs. I am not there yet, but know it is an issue on W#0.

    Day 30 and I only lost...

    I lost 8 pounds on my W30, and dropped a clothing size, top and bottom. And feel great and in control. I learned a lot.

    Post W30 and learning a LOT

    I did really well on the Whole30 I did for October. Felt good, and started getting back into my exercise routine as I had to let my personal trainer go, too expensive with my other commitments, but I am in touch with her and am making the gym a habit, 4 days per week is my goal. I learned this weekend that bread is not my friend. I am not gluten intolerant or anything but the toast with breakfast and the sandwich just make me gag the rest of the day. Which is too bad as I LOVE poached egg on toast. Not enough to pay for it all day long. The 1/2 and 1/2 in the coffee went smoothly but I think that would make me crave sugar and lattes and put me on a slippery slope going forward, that will be a once in a while thing. Still enjoying apples and oranges and cooking with fruits and vegetables. I love squash and plan to make a butternut squash and potato gratin with ghee and sage. easy and the leftovers are great. Thanksgiving will be small this year, we are at home, most of my siblings end up at their inlaws or hosting the college crowds, my brother may have 5+ from his son's school since they have time and money issues getting back and forth to the Midwest. My SIL loves it and the guys are great she says. I will have pie, but probably that is it from the list, probably not stuffing, but everything else will be fine.

    Since I am not feeling the need to track every food I choose, I am moving to the post-30 thread. I did learn this weekend, that bread is not my friend. I had a sandwich and felt lousy the rest of the day. good to know.

    I am fortunate and really like eggs, which I also really like with spinach and mushrooms and not necessarily an omelet, eggs and broccoli and eggs and tomatoes. I don't use ketchup any longer as I am too lazy to make my own and I cannot take one more bottle of condiments in my fridge!

    sounds like you have a plan. I guess I am fortunate that I prefer my coffee and tea without anything. When I do use milk or half and half, I seem to crave sugar. don't forget the water, it will help with cravings.

    Swamp Yankee October 2018 and onwards

    after a weekend of not so Whole30 choices, I am back on Whole30 until Thanksgiving. I am liking this plan so far. The weekend was not outrageous, it did include some Vietnamese food, not sure of everything in the noodle soup, and there were noodles, wonderful warm broth, fish, sweet basil and shrimp. One interesting thing is that I had hoped there would be more vegetables in the soup. Breakfast - egg, bacon, potato and spinach Lunch - ham, home made potato salad (I know lots of potatoes) and carrots Dinner - not sure, I had an orange which I really enjoyed.

    Shelf life

    Homemade mayo doesn't last long, I LOVE it with tuna or chicken, so I make about the amount I use in a week. And Sugarcube OD is right, the smell will tell you in the event it gets shoved to the rear of the fridge.
  10. I am working on a Whole30 for October to most definitely include reintroduction. On Friday, I was put onto high blood pressure medicine, which all agree is due to my weight and eating habits. Day One Weigh In 215.4 - not my highest but pretty high Breakfast - sweet potato and scrambled eggs, ghee, lots of water and almonds for crunch. Lunch - green beans, pork roast and ranch dressing. Iced decaf coffee, I happen to like it as is, so not a problem with add ons. Dinner - left over steak, salad with ranch and avocado and a potato. Energy is pretty good so far, though I have a headache which I attribute to Monday not Whole30.

    AM Workouts

    i have never been able to eat before working out (weight training, cardio, yoga) at 5:30 am. I do drink lots of water and usually grab a banana on my way out of the gym. My trainer is always amazed I don't clunk over, but it is better than having it all come up. For me, water is key.
