    Starting January 2!

I came close to blowing it yesterday, I made the kids Rice Krispy birds nest with caramel M&M's for "eggs" inside them because we were doing a unit study on birds. Oh my word! The ooey gooey marshmallows smelled so darn good and I had to keep reminding myself that I really don't like Rice Krispy squares that much... it was crazy hard! Don't beat yourself up DebCoop, you have come a long way and have done a great job! I love what Melissa Hartwig says in Food Freedom Forever: "There will be slip ups, times you fall off the wagon... it's unrealistic to think there will be no more cravings/unhealthy eating habits. Don't beat yourself up about it. Simply acknowledge where you are, reactivate your reset, and regain your control." Hoping we can all still connect here during our reintroduction as I think that will be the hardest part for me... to not just go out and eat "all the things".

We made it!!! Woo hoo. My husband has decided he wants to do W30. He is still reading the W30 book and preparing himself for what lies ahead, so I might just start up again whenever he does. I am looking forward to reintroduction though and seeing how some of these foods (rice, alcohol, sugar) affects my system. Has anyone tried doing W30 with kiddos? My beautiful blessings have their Momma's sugar dragon. I stopped buying some of the items that they rely on for snacks (yogurt, granola bars) and just stocked up on more fruit and veggies, which they love. However, I am just noticing how they often want the carbs and sugary stuff and want to help them in that area. I began with this past shopping trip by not purchasing some of our convenient standbys that have snuck their way back into our lives over the past few years (cereal, crackers, granola bars, store bought yogurt). If you guys have any ideas, I'd love to hear them. Happy Day 1 of reintroduction!

How is everyone doing? I can't believe we are 27 days in!!! Any thoughts about what you are reintroducing first and if you are going the fast lane or the slow route as mentioned in the Whole 30 book? I think I will be taking it slow. I am going to start my reintroduction with a glass of Chambord. I have always wanted to try it and my husband bought it Day 2 into my Whole 30 so I have been staring at it all month long. I have a pretty good idea of what I am sensitive to due to allergy testing but I would like to know how sensitive I am. Example: Can I eat 1/2 piece of sourdough bread or should I just steer clear of it all together. I won't introduce gluten until later but it will be nice to kind of test where the limits are with some of the items my system is sensitive to. I am reading Food Freedom Forever and LOVE it! I have enjoyed all of the Hartwig's books and find them very informative and encouraging. Meals for this week include: Whole 30 Meatloaf with whipped sweet potatoes, salad and steamed green beans Chicken Tagine (with rice for the family and with salad for me) Salmon with homemade lemon mayo, salad, roasted beets and roasted potatoes. Potroast cooked mexican style with lime juice to use to top our taco salad with. Bacon wrapped chicken breast, veggie tray, rice for kids, salad, berries Chicken and veggie soup with salad Have a great week!

So for me to fight off the food cravings during that blessed time of the month, I have found Harney and Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice tea helps me. I also whipped up some sweet potatoes with coconut milk and cinnamon for a kind of side dish that was comforting. Definitely ate more carbs on the side (sweet potatoes), healthy fats (avocado with lime juice and salt), and made sure to take some "me time". Just enjoying a good book with a warm rice sock on my back while sipping my tea went a long way. I loved @dianne m suggestion of buying yourself flowers! Wishing you the best on your journey Crystalx , you are doing great!

I have been feeling really good. Lots of NSVs for me... sleeping great at night, more energy, skin is better, inflammation is down, less moody :), just overall I feel awesome. I made the kids no bakes the other night and didn't cheat, even though they smelled divine. I appreciated how wonderful the aroma was and then didn't think about it... it was great. I didn't reintroduce properly during my last Whole 30 in July so I am hoping to do it right this time and not just go out and eat everything in sight. I am reading Food Freedom Forever and just so appreciate Melissa's honesty and her healthy way of approaching diet/life. I have never "dieted" before so this reset with Whole 30 (first in July and again now) are the first extreme things I have ever done in regards to my eating habits. I have always been fairly small but after six babies and now that I am nearing 40 my metabolism is definitely different. Combine getting older with food allergies/sensitivities and daily life and I knew my body needed some TLC. After doing a lot of research I settled on Whole 30. I just love the Hartwig's honesty, their research, and the way they view the body as a whole and how to care for it. The thing that gripped me the most was when they emphasized that this was not a weight loss plan and how it was more about improving overall health. For me, living in a culture that is so weight obsessed, that was a breath of fresh air. Only 9 more days till reintroduction. You guys are doing great!

Someone dear to me has struggled with anxiety her whole life too and when she cut out sugar, it greatly diminished. It is amazing how much food affects our bodies. I am so glad that you are experiencing such an awesome NSV!

Hey guys, I have been enjoying reading everyone's posts. I haven't been on in a while... super busy in here and we had a nasty cold go through the family that has knocked me for a loop. I really wanted a warm bowl of oatmeal to help with the sore throat and I find oatmeal to be a comfort food. So, instead, I made homemade unsweetened applesauce and had that with some scrambled eggs and leftover veggies. I have a bunch of friends who are doing W30 too and they have a facebook page and I get frustrated when I read about what they are eating. They are using compliant ingredients but making pancakes and muffins and other things that look delish but I am going strict W30 so I share posts of my avocados and sweet potatoes with eggs and roasted veggies, or my big ol' taco salad. I keep telling myself that it will all be worth it. For some reason, it's been harder this time around. (This is my second whole 30). I don't know if it is because it is winter and I live in a cold state and just want comfort food lately or what but boy, I have to give myself pep talks all day long. Dinner smells awesome tonight. I am slow cooking a pot roast with chicken broth, lime, garlic, cumin and coriander and I will pull it apart and serve it on top of a salad for myself and serve with tortillas and taco fixings for the crew. Made up my meal plan for the next week or so: Crackling Chicken Thighs with sweet potato, roasted zuchinni and summer squash with onions, salad. Chicken Sausage Stirfry Lemon and Thyme Roasted Chicken with veggie medley and roasted potatoes Baked Lemon Cod with steamed asparagus and salad Crock Pot Pork Chops with warm apples, mashed sweet potatoes with cinnamon, and spinach salad Pan Steak and veggies What's cookin' in your neck of the woods?

Made a batch of cauliflower rice for the first time. So easy and delicious. Served it with a sausage veggie bake and salad.

We are a third of the way there!!! Woot! How are you all doing? I am feeling really well and enjoying the meals. I make the same main dish to serve for my non whole 30 family and even they are enjoying it (most of the time). This soup was a hit last night https://www.jaysbakingmecrazy.com/2017/09/04/paleo-whole30-chicken-pot-pie-soup/ and I served it with rolls for the crew and a spinach and strawberry salad with grated beets and almonds and a homemade balsamic vinagrette. Keep on keeping on guys, we can do this!

It's 17 below zero today with a whipping wind. Teapot is on the back burner gently bubbling away. The kids will have popcorn and cocoa as we snuggle up to read and I'll enjoy kale chips and rooibos tea. Happy Saturday everyone.

My walmart has coconut aminos as well as our local natural food store. I think walmart will even ship it to you or to your nearest store.

Hi ethansomebody, I understand your dilemma. My hubby and kids are not doing the W30 with me so I'm making them muffins and rice and such. It's been a good test of self control. What helps me is making sure I have good foods on hand that I can grab easily so I don't succumb to temptation. The whole family eats the main dish w30 meal that I prepare and I make them sides that they enjoy. It's less work that way vs. making 2 completely different meals. You guys can do this!!!

I find that prepping the night before is essential if I'm going to eat breakfast in a timely fashion the next day. Mornings are busy in here with six kiddos to feed and teach. So, I usually set aside a portion of protein from dinner for my breakfast and label it so no one absconds with my precious food. Today's breakfast: Leftover steak with roasted kale and egg fried in bacon fat, beet salad with clementine, & 1/2 sweet potato. Made this sheet pan steak last night and the whole crew enjoyed it. https://damndelicious.net/2016/12/16/sheet-pan-steak-and-veggies/ Great job guys! We're rocking it.

It took 4 tries but my homemade mayo finally came out. I only had regular EVOO on hand so it's a little strong but after all the hard work I'm going to eat it up. Dinner last night was almond encrusted cod topped with avacado and homemade salsa. I served it up with steamed sugar snap peas, roasted sweet potatoes with kale, and a clementine. So breakfast was leftover cod over mixed greens with pomegranate, veggies, and homemade ranch dressing made with my mayo. VICTORY!
