    menstrual cup question

Thanks Moluv! Good to know someone else was irritated by tampons. I'll definitely look into it more, maybe I'll send a couple of questions to the creators. Wow! I wouldn't have thought of that but I guess it's quite similar to the blood & bone fertilizers.

    menstrual cup question

Would you recommend a cup to someone who hates tampons? I already use reusable pads but there's still times when an internal system would be useful. But tampons don't work for me. It's hard to explain, but an hour or two after insertion, I get mild cramping and a strong sensation that I need to remove the tampon. I'm not sure if this could be a reaction to the chemicals in tampons (as I'm rather sensitive chemically in general) or if I'm just unsuited to internal systems.

I'm yet to find one. I began making my own broth in the slow cooker and used that instead. By topping up with water, I can leave it simmering and therefore have it on hand for days.
  4. Good luck, Lulu! I'm hoping that pinpointing these specific, unexpected intolerances will ultimately give me more freedom - the freedom to eat a wider variety of food (instead of having to cut out a large volume of suspects, I can be specific), and the freedom to avoid things that really do make me sick. Knowledge is power.
  5. Hi Laura, I also think AIP would be the way to go (assuming you haven't tried that). I discovered I have an egg intolerance and my reaction was very severe, including full body aches and joint issues, after eating only three eggs. Eggs and dairy are usually the main culprits for joint issues, I think. I was AIP compliant for only 32 days before I started reintroduction, so you might be closer than you think to a breakthrough. Hang in there.
  6. Thanks Joey, glad to hear someone else had extreme reactions as well. Today, I suddenly realised no more mayonnaise. That was pretty heartbreaking! I tested with free range eggs from a local, ethical farm, so I hate to think how I'd respond to soy fed cage eggs. Holly, the simple answer is no, I never suspected eggs as causing any reaction previously. However, in hindsight, I do remember two instances of an upset tummy immediately after a breakfast of eggs in the past... but I attributed the cause to other things at the time. Pretty easy to do when you consider I eat eggs at least once a week and that's two upset tummies in probably two years. Also, my husband reminded me that I took an IgG test and both egg white and egg yolk came up as intolerances, but I read a lot of things saying the test isn't accurate so I promptly forgot all about it. So there were signs, but they sure weren't obvious.
  7. So the title was meant to say wow, but woe also sums it up nicely. I'm on day 32 of AIP, day 52 of whole30, and I decided to try eggs as I've been missing them. For breakfast, I scrambled three eggs in coconut oil. Added herbs & salt. Didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. And then... within an hour I was feeling super nauseous. Within two hours, my wrists were aching like crazy. Within three hours, my entire body was sore, my knee got stiff, I get extremely lethargic and depressed. I then had to dash to the bathroom. I never want to eat an egg again. But I do have one question... this reaction is so extreme! My plan is to allow things to settle, then continue on my reintro plan, and try egg yolk much later down the track. But I'm curious if anyone else has experienced such an extreme reaction? I would never have picked eggs as being such an issue for me.
  8. I don't eat much in the way of fruit or nuts, on or off Whole30. Almond meal is about the only nut product I use. This is because I don't particularly enjoy either of them. But, the way I see them is a really handy emergency food. Something to grab on the go if I'm desperate. Can you reframe your thinking along the lines of: These aren't snack foods, they're ingredients for a meal or an emergency go to? The main thing for fruit for me is that it can be so easy to get a sour or floury or soggy or bruised piece. If you could focus on thst possibility before snacking, make it a really big and gross possibility, maybe you won't be so inclined?

I use www.iherb.com for all of my coconut products (inc aminos) and many supplements. They ship to AU within 3 business days or so and the shipping is extremely reasonable (around $8.50 or so.) I also have a discount code you can use: WEJ137 for $10 off orders over $40 or $5 if less than $40. I'm in Vic, for meat I use www.thefarmersmarket.com.au and organic produce from www.organicorigins.com.au.
  10. Haha, yep, thanks Renee! I rolled my eyes at myself when I realised!
  11. I was reading that earlier, and I'll definitely create more of a sleep routine. That's really sweet of you, thank you!
  12. I'm taking mag, but I will double check my dose. I've been getting more spotty with my bedtime routine so I'll make that a focus for improvement and see how that goes. I do eat all the fat on my meats, plus there is added fat in the cooking process (separate to the extra spoonfuls I mentioned), but I'll up it even further and see how I respond. Pre WO I was having an egg with coconut oil, and post WO I was having another egg or chicken plus whatever carb I had around (sweet pot, greens or berries). I havent worked out at all this week but I'd probably sub chicken for the eggs. So eggs and chilli are the biggest changes since going AI. Ohhhhh... realisation... My daily meals weren't that much different, a lot spicier, but I was using a lot of mayo which I haven't really substituted with anything. That'd be a lot of fat and protein missing that I was originally having. Thank you! I'll go figure out a way to add more day & protein back in.
  13. Working out first thing in the morning (6am). This week; I've been lucky to get 6 hours per night (in bed early enough, just having trouble falling asleep.) Previously, I was probably getting a good 8 hours. No caffeine, I've never enjoyed coffee and not much of a tea drinker either. And for that reason, I'm extremely sensitive to it.
  14. I want to weigh myself so badly, mostly because right now, weight loss is actually the only benefit I'm seeing. I had an awesome time from day 3 to day 8 - my skin glowed, my energy was high, I was sleeping well, I dropped a dress size in that one week. But ever since, I've been on a downward spiral and the only thing that seemed to continue was the weight loss. I've only changed two things. 1) I started working out in week two. Mostly Pump classes, as I really need to increase my endurance and heavy weights don't cut it for me in that respect. 2) On day 21, I went autoimmune protocol. I do intend to continue into a Whole60, especially with the intro of AI protocol. But I'm just really confused why day 3-8 gave me a taste of how things should be, but I haven't been able to maintain / get back there. From a hormone perspective, Day 16-20 was my period, so I felt at day 9 onwards I was probably just experiencing PMS / hormone issues. But 5 days out, I usually feel a lot better and that hasn't happened. I haven't been able to fall asleep a single night this week. And I've been constipated since day 9. I've cut back from 3 workouts per week to 1 or 2 as I'm not sleeping and lacking the energy. Typical day's food: 1tbsp coconut oil, chicken, pumpkin, greens (varies between celery, chard, kale, spinach) with ginger Roast lamb salad with dollop of coconut oil Herbed steak with sweet potato and broccoli or other veg, homemade pesto I add extra portions if I work out (pre/post wo). I really feel it when there's not enough fat included in my meals. I don't snack, very occasionally I'll have a small serving of fruit (not a huge fruit fan, killing off a major sugar dragon). Occasionally I'll sip on broth, otherwise I only drink water or soda water (glass bottled). I take digestive enzymes, vit D, magnesium, fish oil. Is it just a matter of waiting it out? Or am I doing something wrong? I'm extremely happy to be losing weight, but I'd also like all those other benefits, too!
