Newbie and scared but ready to try

Good luck to both of you! I have been reading a lot and this all makes so much sense! The piece of advice that has been most helpful to me is with regards to hunger vs. craving. I’ve realized the past few days that I’ve not been hungry enough to eat fish or broccoli so it was a craving. Today it came about 11/2 hrs after finishing lunch. RIGHT when I used to drink my coffee and creamer while picking up children from school. I couldn’t believe it! My body has been on a bad sugar schedule!!! I am only on day four and I know there may be hard times ahead but I’m ready! Oh. Acne still at 44. Tried everything. It’s crazy! Ready to find out what my body can’t handle. I can tell you it’s loving protein, veggies and extra fat (referring to the plate template)!

Gearing up to start May 1st!

Definitely! Tonight I didn’t have to stay in the kitchen to make breakfast since I already made it for a few days. Now I can just catch up on some reading!

Gearing up to start May 1st!

Thank you! I'm working on a breakfast casserole right now ... well, it's 10 pm, I know I wasn't hungry, just tired, but trying to make things easier in the morning. I did snack on some of my roasted brussels sprouts ... is that a huge no?! At least it's compliant ... but I know I shouldn't. This casserole takes a long time -- I'm excited about breakfast though. I will have to try your egg casserole, @mgarnett17

Gearing up to start May 1st!

Thank you @ShannonM816! I could get really excited about avocados and salsa for breakfast, but I guess an avocado would count as my plated fat and I still need to do a protein? I would love bacon ...

Gearing up to start May 1st!

Be careful with those Rotisserie chickens ... I bought one from our local Sprouts market, couldn't find the ingredient list, but it said No added this and no added that ... then after I got home and took off the cardboard wrap saw the ingredient list on the bottom. A non-compliant ingredient was listed. I gave it to my neighbor and they were happy! I agree about finding yummy food that's not boring .... do you like the InstaPot?

Would this be acceptable for breakfast? Not sure. They are super clear that I am also trying to retrain my brain ... for instance, no frozen blueberries after dinner. Even though they are healthy, my body and my brain want something sweet and I'm just giving in to that. They also say no pancakes, etc. even if you make it whole30 compliant. It's about breaking the habits. Soooo, that being said, this seems like it may fall under that category ... my friend said it's so good she even ate it for dessert. I think it may be ok to eat after my 30 days, but not during. Your thoughts? I have a hard time getting eggs down, but I've done it this week! Breakfast yesterday took me 45 minutes. Today down to 30 minutes. https://www.paleorunningmomma.com/sweet-potato-apple-breakfast-bake-paleo-whole30/

    Recipes using chicken sausage links?

I made a recipe using apple chicken sausages from Costco. Don't have the link as a friend texted it to me - but, here's the basic idea. Some purple onions, some brussels sprouts halved, some peppers (any color), some diced sweet potatoes. Slice the sausages. Mix in a bowl with a little olive oil and about 1 Tbsp. of seasoning. I used Bragg organic sprinkle. Place on a roasting sheet and roast in the oven (400 degrees) until potatoes are tender and/or veggies are browning. Oh, also add some kosher salt to taste and about 1/2 tablespoon minced garlic. It was delicious!!!

    Whole30 Spinach Frittata

Wow - ok. Thanks! I have much to learn (and eat - haha)! I wasn't sure if the recipes in the cookbook were stand alone and full meals ... but I'm getting there!

    4/2/2018 Starting Whole30

Amy Rose, did you make the chicken hash? Just wondering, it calls for apple cider, yet in the cookbook it says that Chef Richard added apple cider vinegar. Which did you do? Thanks.

    Whole30 Spinach Frittata

Thank you. I have the Whole 30 cookbook -- it calls for 6 eggs. Not sure I could eat half, but can hold 3 eggs! I just started today and could hardly eat my breakfast at 6:20. I had to try again around 9. My body doesn't like eating in the morning and I've read it will take time! So, I will eat as much of the frittata as I can! Should I also add more veggies and plated fat?
  11. Is the Whole30 Spinach Frittata considered a full meal template? I've read about eggs being protein vs. fat and just can't decide. Should I add more protein and more fat or would it be a sufficient meal? Thank you!
