Whole 30 ketchup is actually really good. You might find you don't miss the sugar if you make it. It's in the book (not the online recipes that are packed with dates). It's really simple and takes like 10 minutes tops to make with ingredients that are readily available in a regular grocery store. I prefer salad dressing that is oil/vinegar based, so no clue how to help there (maybe something made with Whole 30 mayo instead of sour cream or other dairy?). I hear you on the cheese...Cheese is cheese and it always will be. When I did my reintroductions after my first Whole30, the only thing that I reacted to like "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?" was dairy. I'm on Day 12 too and doing fine. Not seeing drastic results either way (don't feel super crappy, but my pants aren't getting super loose either) like I did on my first one. But I'm sleeping a bit better and have more energy in the gym (#NSV). Anyway, hope everyone else is doing well!

I would say try sweet potatoes as a sub for the russets as a start. They have more nutrients in them. As for the large portions, it depends on your activity level as to your caloric needs. You shouldn't be starving!

I'm on my second one and am not feeling nearly as badly as I did on my first. I was on a much more Whole 30 like diet between the two than before my first one despite the occasional donut. So I'd say if you're used to elimination diets or your diet has been somewhat like the Whole 30 recently, that's probably why you're not feeling anything. And even on my first one, I didn't want to kill all the things :).

Hi all, I started my second one on April 14, but there doesn't seem to be anyone who is with me, so I figured I'd jump on this one. We've got this!

I'm doing a pretty slow roll reintroduction. So I've done alcohol, legumes, and non-gluten grains thus far. No reactions. Not really surprising to me, I generally consider my digestive system to be steel-like. I'll finish over the next two weeks with dairy and gluten and we'll see! Weight loss has all but stopped, which pretty much happens every time I change things up with my diet. I lose some weight, it stalls and generally all comes back and then some. So I'm pretty much expecting that too. My doctor is testing all of my vitamins and hormones to see if there is something else that's not quite right.

You too! I'm enjoying a glass of red with my compliant chicken curry :). So far not too many trick-or-treaters, but I haven't felt the need to go diving into the candy.

I finally felt amazing in the pool today. I have been waiting for this! Swam 500 yards in under 10:30. Not fast by any means, but starting to resemble my old self again. #NSV. Tomorrow is it! Congrats to everyone who made it. And really, congrats to those who didn't, too. It's supposed to be a learning experience and even when we don't achieve the goal, we learn things. In keeping with the Whole30 spirit, I'll be ordering myself a cookbook as a reward instead of drowning myself in Halloween candy .

Yesterday was a horrific day for me. Frustrating, emotional, stressful, angering. I did allow myself to skip my trip to the pool. I also allowed myself to skip my evening dog walk. But, my typical corollary to that behavior is to drown my emotions in a bottle of wine and a pint of ice cream. Happy to report I went home-really not feeling all that hungry. But when I did feel hungry for dinner, I made some eggs and veggies with some hot sauce and avocado. And it was actually an empowering experience. I felt like I was in control of my food choices despite an overwhelmingly emotional day. I'm hoping that they next time I have a similar experience at work, I'll also be able to take myself to the pool and not leave the dogs hanging on their evening exercise.

Still here, still going. Food dreams are becoming fewer and further between. I had a nasty stomach reaction to coconut milk in my coffee this weekend. Not an experiment I'll be repeating. I went for my annual physical this past week (not by choice, required by work otherwise I would have put it off until I was done). Therefore, I know I've lost a little weight, which I already suspected due to clothing fit. I've always had pretty healthy vitals and no change there. Call it optimistic, but I'm starting to think about re-introduction plans. I think I'm going to be somewhere between the fast and slow tracks. I want to know which foods I might react negatively to rather than re-introducing in the wild (particularly in light of the coconut milk incident). But I'm in no hurry to re-integrate the foods I've left behind back into my regular diet. I'm thinking I'm going to make a list of the "too good to pass up" foods so I've already told myself which foods I think are "worth it" and then I'll take a few extra days between introducing each food group. I definitely am planning on that glass of wine on Halloween while I pass out non-compliant treats to the neighborhood kiddos. Call me a weak Whole30-er, but even I am not cold-hearted enough to hand out apples and walnuts to kids in costume...

Over halfway there everyone! Last night, I dreamed of cheese ravioli with specifically non-compliant pesto sauce. So clearly I'm still in the food dreaming phase...But we're rapidly headed for potential food boredom, so I thought I'd share my favorite curry recipe! https://pinchofyum.com/thai-yellow-chicken-curry-with-potatoes If you make the curry paste with actual lemongrass instead of lemongrass paste (which has whey in it) and skip the brown sugar finisher, this curry is completely compliant and delicious! It also freezes beautifully. It's a compliant one-pot meal and you can add other root veggies of your choice instead of just doing potatoes. Also, the coconut cream base makes it smooth and sweet enough that you could definitely do this for breakfast too! I'm feeling my pants a little looser (albeit it's possible that it's because they haven't been washed in a hot minute). But my ring feels a bit looser as well. I'm sleeping a bit better-which is saying a lot since I'm a notoriously poor sleeper. And as a result, I feel generally more alert when I am awake. #NSV.

Me too! Last night I dreamed I was eating Ben and Jerry's Coffee Toffee ice cream. So weird.

I decided that traveling was so fun the first time around that I'd try it again and go to a seminar today and tomorrow. I didn't pack as well as I would have liked and there was nothing at the lunch at the seminar that was compliant, but I made do with the things I had packed in my cooler. Dinner, on the other hand, was magnificent. Made a reservation on Yelp and specifically said in the comments that I'd have lots of questions about the menu and some pretty specific requests. The owner actually came to our table and gave me several options despite lots of their food having both sugar and soy in it. I settled on some sashimi and a stir fry made with fish sauce and it was all delicious! Planning ahead to go out and communicating early definitely makes a difference.

Done traveling with success and back in my own kitchen. Already stocked up again at the grocery store and ready to hit week 2!
