  1. Here is a tempeh made from yellow peas. It’s not tofu, but it might be right for some of you. It includes only 3 ingredients and no special equipment needed so it’s minimally processed. https://www.westonaprice.org/yellow-pea-tempeh/ I also found this chickpea recipe that can be cooked, unlike the cold tofu recipe above. The honey in the ingredients list is just for the sauce. You can make the tofu with just chickpea flour, spices and water. This looks so easy I might try it just to see how my body reacts to the chickpea flour. https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/burmese-chickpea-
  2. I found this in the notes for the second recipe.
  3. I am coming from traditional Whole30 and I also know that I need to avoid soy because of my many endocrine system health problems so I’m looking for soy and grain-free meat replacements. Personally I also cannot eat beans because of bloating and gas, but some of you might be able to so I thought I’d share my findings. This recipe is for any beans. It uses cornstarch but you may be able to experiment with alternative starches. If you do I’d love to know what worked for you. https://www.kqed.org/bayareabites/118116/diy-soy-free-tofu-yes-you-can-make-tofu-from-any-bean-youd-like I
  4. @ladyshanny, I feel like we’re missing a general discussion forum where we can swap tips and tricks, share our meal plans and grocery hauls, show off pictures of our meals for the day/week, and share our trials and triumphs. I wanted to start a thread asking what pant-based stuff everyone gets at Trader Joe’s and Costco but there isn’t a forum where that really fits. I think having that kind of space is important to building community which is probably why people aren’t posting much here.
  5. I’m newly trying to go vegetarian and I have zero experience with meat alternatives. I really want to make this recipe: https://whole30.com/plant-based/spiced-sweet-potato-soup#recipe. Unfortunately the recommended brand of chorizo is only sold in two stores in my entire state and it’s a 5 hour round trip. My local store doesn’t have a compliant equivalent. Does anyone have a compliant recipe? I feel like this shouldn’t be hard to make if I only knew how.
  6. I was semi-veggie most of my adult life. I would eat meat sparingly and really didn’t like it. When I had a thyroidectomy, my suppression therapy kicked off a muscle wasting disease and I started craving meat all the time so I was eating more and more of it. After finally being diagnosed with the muscle wasting disease and two years of recovery I’m back to not liking meat again (yay!). I’ve been doing Whole30 since June 2019 so I am so happy to see this vegetable-based version. I would really like to discover a healthy way to eat vegetarian. Prior to cancer my veggie diet was very bean an
