KSByer - sooooo happy for your success, your weight loss, your fun fitting clothes, your strength and I think we made you into a believer...in yourself. your attitude. Everything got better in only 30 days! So happy for you. Dave

All - we are here! Our 30 day journey is complete. Please measure/weigh yourself and post your results/successes if you would like. I am happy to report that I lost 3 pounds.........it doesn't seem like a lot, but to me it is a success. I am a very energetic person and I have been slowed severely since the spine surgery. My biggest fear was that I was going to start gaining weight during the recovery. It has been over two months since the surgery and I am feeling about 95%......and 3 pounds lighter.......success! I plan on continuing on with this way of eating and work towards my ideal goal weight which is still a ways down the road........slow and steady.........eating that elephant......one bite at a time. I am proud of each and every one of you for sticking with the program, offering up advice or recipes to the group, believing in yourself, and taking the time to do something goof for YOU! I hope you have a cleaner diet (and house) after these eeeaaasssyyyyy 30 days! Happy Veterans Day everyone! Dave

All - make sure to weigh and measure yourself tomorrow (if you want) and post any positive results. Don't be discouraged at any expectations you might have made for yourself in case you didn't meet them. The goal is to realize that "it was only 30 days" which followed a lifetime of unhealthy eating. Now that you have the tools, you can continue on. Happy Veterans Day early and Happy Birthday to the "Devil Dawgs" (the US Marines! Dave

KSbyer - glad you are feeling welcome here. We are all friends, helping each other along as we need it. A little bit of encouragement goes along way. The chores were an idea I threw in sometime last year and people seemed to like it so I stuck with it. It was a way for me to stay active and keep my mind off of thoughts of snacks and to whip my house into shape. For this group, if my math is correct, tomorrow (Tuesday) is our final day which means the scales can come out on Wednesday. Lets all finish strong. Dave

Hello everyone. A quick post before I go canoe the lake and get some exercise out of the way early. Been a whirlwind weekend with way too much driving, traffic, and bad weather. But the sun is out today and time to have some fun. Chores: go thru the closets, garage, or other storage area and tidy, clean, straighten, or throw away. Have a great day. Dave

All, I'm spending tomorrow with my middle son as we check out a possible future college for him next year. I need an hour of exercise from you, break it up if you have to. Tomorrows chores: floors! Wash them, vacuum, was them, sweep them, carpet them, replace them......make them like new. Dave

All, been a busy-crazy-week! I'm glad to hear about chores getting done, long ealks, and overall high spirits. Be proud of yourself for what you have done and accomplished. I want everyone to realize that at the end of this......results will vary! Some will lose weight, or inches...or both! Some will lose nothing but gain less pain, bloating, swelling, better breathing, etc. There is a success somewhere! I'm hoping all of you find it next week. I'm proud of all of my crew.....just a couple more days. Chores: clean your vehicle.....detail it, and I need 45 minutes of walking or exercise! Dave

All.......the final week. I can see clouds in the distance and seagulls in the air so land must be close by. Let's finish strong.......and clean. Today we are cleaning cabinets. Clean the top of the refrigerator and on top of cabinets. Wipe out or vacuum inside the cabinets. Clean under the fridge and oven. Clean.....clean.....clean! Dave

burgards - congrats for so many wonderful benefits! Glad you found success in many areas. Last night we stayed in and handed out candy to the 16 kids that ventured our way. We live in a very wooded neighborhood and everyone has several acres so the houses are spaced out and not very conducive for trick or treaters. I woke this morning early....didn't need the extra hour of sleep that daylight savings time gave me....it was rainy and gloomy. TIME TO GO OUTSIDE! Spent the rest of the morning laughing and acting silly with my youngest (15 years old) as we canoed around the local lake. Great workout, great views, great fun! Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday! Today you need to clean bathrooms! Make them shine! Dave

Good morning all. Glad to hear from newcomers and those hanging out on the fringe. Reduction of meds is a great story and one that people should hear. Take a look for anything that has gotten better so far. Easier breathing, less joint pain, looser clothes, more energy, better sleep, less allergy symptoms. You might just be surprised what you find. Have a great day crew! Dave

Jmcbn - I like your Halloween traditions much better. Meadow - still have a cowboy hat and boots but they don't get worn much anymore. I might have to change that. All, there is some great dialogue going on and I appreciate the hard work and communication. For those quietly sitting out on the fringe, feel free to speak up at any time. We would love to know how you are doing. Today you need to tackle a closet or all of the closets. Get rid of stuff you don't wear and donate it. Sweep or vacuum in there, organize, make it an "easier place to shop" for tomorrow's outfit. 30 minutes of exercise again at a minimum! Have a great day! Dave

For anyone who is struggling with the exercise......I want to be very clear. I am only trying to get you moving.....you and you alone know what you can and can't do. Take your time, do what you can, don't over do it. If you can only climb 10 steps today, try 11 tomorrow. Baby steps. I don't want anyone hurting themselves and I don't want any self defeating themselves because they aren't able to accomplish the daily task. Post what you CAN accomplish and we will go from there. Nobody rolls off of a couch that they have been living on and runs a marathon. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time......we will get there. Today I need 30 minutes from everyone....at a minimum......again, do what you can. Dave

All - this sounds like a mutiny in the making. All hands on deck........today we are realizing that there are several of us with the same fears and concerns. This is a GREAT thing! You need to realize that this journey is about ALL of us and many of us will have the same fears. Anything you do different in your life is just that......different. Stay on course and remember that being impatient is a product of our environment. We have grown accustomed to getting instant relief and gratification. Even this acknowledgement is instant because the old way would have taken days or weeks to mail you a letter. You all have friends here ready to help. Don't hide in the shadows afraid that you are all alone in any kind of misery. We are here, we understand, we can help. The greatest anti-depressant is exercise so your chore today is 1 hour of exercise. Break it up in chunks of you need to but try to get a full hour in. Also, do a crossword puzzle to exercise your mind. Don't play any Kandy Krush or any mindless loading games like that. Get up....move. Dave

We are at the half way point and there is no turning back now. We should have a pretty good routine established by now with the cooking, shopping, lunch packing, dining out, etc. Don't hesitate to try something different........it's Not bad....it's just different. Your OFI today is to do 50 step-ups (or climb some stairs), 10 toe touches, and a brisk 20 minute walk. Next......pick a bathroom and detail it! Today is the next day of improving on you! You are already pretty awesome, we are just making some tweaks. Dave

Hey everyone. Its been a very busy couple of days and I haven't been able to check in. Sorry about that. Two of my boys had Homecoming this weekend so it has been a whirlwind. Hope everyone is doing well. I have been cutting trees, splitting wood, stacking, trimming limbs.......busy busy. I have also been organizing my garage. Your chores......actually they are NO LONGER chores since chores sounds negative. Todays OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT (OFI) are: dust everything (lights, ceiling fans, walls) then vacuum the entire house. Easy peasy! Dave
