Cooking fat confusion

So on the shopping list download avocado oil is listed as a dressing oil while extra virgin olive oil is listed as a cooking oil.  Why is that when avocado oil has a higher smoking point than olive oil.  Can I cook with avocado oil?

You can cook with avocado oil - the brand I use has a smoke point of 500 degrees.  I use that and coconut oil for cooking much more often than olive oil.
