jrustdc
My wife is still having significant digestive and other health issues even after eating very clean/Whole 30 for about 6 months. She's not ready to make the jump to the AI protocol but I want to start collecting recipes and techniques, as I see it looming in our future at some point. What AIP recipes do you love? What seasonings? I was really depressed by Mel's summary of her AI protocol experience so I want the best bag of tricks I can find. Oh, and... we'd probably still be eating poultry and seafood but not red meat, to make things more complicated. Thanks! Jen
Mickey
The thing that really made the AIP doable for me was making my own breakfast patties. I use ground beef, but you can use any meat you like. Make a big batch with fresh herbs and some salt, and either bake in the oven or cook on the stovetop and freeze with wax paper between. I heat mine up in the morning in a skillet along with leftover veggies from the night before. I make sure breakfast is my biggest, most nutritious meal, that way if I run into trouble later in the day I can get by with fruits/veggies because I have already had a good chunk of protein. I do a lot of batch cooking so that I don't spend hours in the kitchen every day. I find red meat particularly nourishing to my autoimmune condition, so I eat a lot of it - can't help you too much with poultry recipes! I like to buy the cheapest cuts of grass-fed meat and either cook them in the pressure cooker or braise for awhile to make them tender. Fish is easy because it doesn't need too many seasonings - lemon, garlic, herbs, maybe some coconut oil and you are good to go. I have some AIP recipes on my site: http://autoimmunepaleo.wordpress.com/recipes/ Here are some other good resources for recipes: http://www.thepaleomom.com/aip-friendly http://xinalynn.wordpress.com/tag/aip/ http://www.nutrisclerosis.com/Blogs/catid/10/Recipes.aspx http://www.theprimalist.com/recipes/ I am also working on an ebook of recipes for the autoimmune protocol. Hope that is helpful! Mickey
