  1. Hi Gma! I'm really excited to get started, too! I got the day-by-day book, also, and it looks like it's going to be really helpful. In the past I've done logs in this forum, and the feedback and encouragement from other members as I post daily about my struggles, successes and meals has been incredibly helpful. Also, if you text message, you can subscribe ($15) to daily texts from Melissa Hartwig Urban (I think there will be two a day): Sign up at nudgetext.com/whole30
  2. Best of luck, Emily! You've got this!
  3. My second W30 unexpectedly turned into a W24 by almost the same weakness - pizza and red wine.
  4. CrazyCow, thank you SO MUCH for this recipe! I'm totally going to make it. I have a paleo sauces cookbook (Primal Blueprint, Mark Sisson) which I was thumbing through last night, and there are lots of them I'm planning to try in the coming days.
  5. I'm so excited for tomorrow, you guys! I'm 100% in and READY FOR THIS!! Day zero, I guess you call today, and I did measurements and a last weigh in this morning. Stashing the scale somewhere deep in my garage where it's hard to get to. Aside from the wine dragon, I have a very hard time staying off the scale. I'm going to work on staying focused on NSVs - primarily better sleep and decreased shoulder pain, but also general mood and energy levels.
  6. Hi Becky, Lynn and C-Cezeaux! Looks like we have quite a few W30 veterans here! Yay! I read through my old logs for prior rounds, and am remembering how great the support is on this forum. And also remembering lots of recipes and habits, and am pretty psyched up to get going again!
  7. Hi David, I will be interested in seeing your meals - I hope you’ve created (or will create) a log so we can see what a Korean W30 looks like. Wishing you luck! But also wishing you focus and inner strength. Ann
  8. It’s almost here! So exciting! I did my first W30 just after my youngest finished high school and my oldest was about to begin her second year of college. So I can somewhat relate to the stress level. (And I can also say that the stress level has significantly decreased since then!). Keep a good snack in your purse. You can do this. We will do this. Right?
  9. I relate to “do I really need to do ALL of this?” I am starting my #6 on Wednesday. Shopped today and was really hoping to make chipotle mayo using homemade mayonnaise. Disappointed to not find compliant chipotles in adobo. And I’m in a city (Portland, OR) where it’s fairly easy to find specific dietary items (vegan/paleo/sustainable/etc). So now I’m still deciding if I will use these chipotle peppers that have a bit of corn oil and even smaller bit of corn starch, or if I will find another compliant spicy thing to do with the mayo. Sigh.
  10. Hi Kristi! Romesco is a Spanish condiment, which can have different things in it. I think it is usually tomato based, but the one I make isn’t. You can find lots of recipes by Google search, but this is the one I love (I also like the pork medallions in this recipe, but often just make the Romesco and use it on any- and everything): https://www.williams-sonoma.com/m/recipe/pork-medallions-with-romesco-sauce.html
  11. Three days pre-W30. Cleaned out fridge and pantry as best I could (my adult kids live with me so can’t really get rid of their non compliant stuff). And went shopping to stock up on everything. Made homemade ghee, mayonnaise, and Romesco sauce. Any boring meal can be made better with one of these. I feel like I’m ready NOW to go all in, except I have plans on NYE to play board games and drink bourbon with my neighbors, so it just makes sense to wait till Wednesday. At least I know I’m prepared for day one, when I will probably be ....not in the mood to shop, and looking for s
  12. Hi all! I’ve done this a few times before - W30 in July 2012, W24 in Jan 2013, W30 in Dec 2014, and W-?? in July 2015. Each time I feel better, but fairly quickly return to my previous habits. I’m feeling strong this time, as I have recently been working on behavior stuff with Noom. I’ve also lost 20# over the last 7 months, and would ultimately like to lose another 15-25. But primarily I really want to get better sleep, and decrease shoulder pain (calcific tendinitis, which used to respond well to a cortisone injection but no longer does), get my resting heart rate and blood pressure down,
