Back woods camping

HI All - we are headed up into the Boundary Waters Canoe area for a 5-6 day camping trip this next week. We will be just about wrapping up our 30 days as we head out, but want to stay as close to plan as possible while up there. This is a back packing/canoe trip, we have a pretty set route inwhich we'll be moving and camping a different place each night. It is not possible to take a full cooler and we are concered with foods. Does anyone have any recipes/thoughts to share on things to take?! obviously planning some primal pacs, some trail mixes with good nuts and good dried fruits. Hopefully some eggs and ok meats for the first day or so - but things will get dicey after that. Any thoughts on freeze dried or packaged vegetables?! Any help would be great - thanks so much!

Look for tuna packed in a foil pouch -- Starkist has some, as do a few others. An unopened pouch can keep the tuna fresh in inhospitable temps, and the foil is light and easy to pack out with you once you have eaten it.

If you really want some good eating that travels well, pack some Wild Planet tuna -- its a 2 pound albacore tuna steak instead of the flakes!

Have a great time on your trip!

There is a company called "Just Tomatoes" that make high quality freeze dried fruits and a few veggies. It's not cheap but good quality. You can find them at a health food market or a Whole Foods. Trader Joe's has freeze-dried mangoes, blueberries and strawberries.

I like Wild Planet Tuna and salmon. Not messy.

Also there is almond butter in foil packs: http://www.iherb.com...-7-g-Each/32171

Hope this helps
