Kaypentz
I may have to start supplementing I hate the idea but my little guy isn't gaining weight very good. Is there a best kind of formula I've noticed most formulas contain soy.
missmary
I'm sorry you are finding yourself in this situation! If it were me I would be checking out the options and pros and cons described here: http://www.westonaprice.org/health-topics/faq-homemade-baby-formula/ I think they list a few different recipes to make your own and somewhere I can recall seeing them recommend a commercial brand and/or how to add to a commercial brand to make it closer to optimal nutrition for an infant. If you can keep breast feeding while supplementing that would be ideal. good luck!
km4098
Hi mama, how old is your baby? Is baby gaining weight at all? I can't upload an image, but this list is helpful: http://community.babycentre.co.uk/post/a23935431/keep_calm_latch_on Have you and your baby been assessed by an IBCLC lactation consultant? They are breastfeeding specialists and know more about breastfeeding than any Paeds, Doctors, Midwives and Health nurses. Here is the directory of them in the US (I assume you live there) http://www.ilca.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=3432 I would see one of them before supplementing with formula. This is the breastfed baby charts, have a look at those and see where your baby is at: https://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/bf-info/common-concerns%E2%80%93baby/baby-weight-gains

Kaypentz
Thanks I ended up using formula for a week then I realized it didn't matter what he ate he was spitting it up and if that's the case I'd rather nurse. The only reason he filled out was because of the horrible ingredients but everyone else tend to tell me how good and healthy he looked. I'm starting the whole 30 and. Asking sure I eat lots of fats to make sure I have no issues with my supply.
AmyS
La Leche League points out that among the various causes of spitting up, one of the most common is that the baby is full! Babies' stomachs don't expand the way ours do, so when they're full, the excess just comes back up. I'm glad it worked for you to go back to nursing. Sending good thoughts to you and your little one. When you re-start Whole30, eat at least four full meals a day and sip on coconut milk throughout the day. Basically eat your fridge every day. Happy nursing and happy eating. Kahaliti
Kaypentz - I'm on day 20 and nursing my 18 month old still - eating snacks or adding a meal is a must - also drinking plenty of water throughout the day! I eat an avocado a day usually. I've dropped 12 lbs (144 to 132) and none of my jeans fit anymore but my baby is still nursing like a champ! :-)
