Durkex oil and a lesson in reading labels

I bought some currants which I used in a recipe, approx. 1/4 cup in a large casserole. The currants were packaged in a plastic, container by the store. I never bothered to read the label because they were just currants.

Yesterday, I was going to sprinkle a few on a salad and I noticed the ingredient list: currants, Durkex oil. I was surprised there was oil in the product, to say the least, and I have never heard of this type of oil, ever. I googled it and arrived at a Europen Company's website. The website was slick with a LOT of corporate-speak. It took a lot of searching to find out that the oil is Palm oil.

This taught me, yet again, to read EVERY SINGLE label; make no assumptions.

My question is, is Palm oil ever acceptable? I have seen that Palm kernel oil is not. This is not about restarting, but I am still eating W30 compliant; I am 4 weeks past my first completion though.

If anyone is interested, the website link to that company is: http://europe.croklaan.com/products/durkex/
