You can still have carbs, but they're going to come from starchy vegetables (potatoes, sweet potatoes, winter squash like butternut or spaghetti squash, root vegetables like turnip, parsnip, carrot, beet, or rutabaga, or jicama or plantain) and occasionally fruit now. Most people find they feel best with a fist-sized serving of starchy vegetables each day, and people who are very active, are prone to anxiety and depression, and women who are nursing, pregnant, or in the week or so leading up to their period may need more.

Also, be sure you eat enough at meals, it really does help keep the cravings at bay.
