Guest
Last night I attended an assessment with a senior therapist for some pretty serious anxiety issues. This has been ongoing, I've seen two psychiatrists, lots of specialists, CBT etc etc. The therapist said "you don't seem that anxious" (disclaimer: not patronisingly) The only thing that has changed is starting the whole30...meds the same, routine the same etc. I am on day 18. Pretty significant.
Robin R.
That is wonderful news! I finished my W30 a few weeks ago and was able to reduce my anxiety/depression meds (Lexapro) by half after 3 weeks in. Keep up the good work!
NatalieCatalie_
This is really encouraging to me. I have anxiety and depression and have noticed that even only 9 days into Whole30, my anxiety has not been as noticeable. Thank you for sharing. countrygal
That is so awesome to hear! The main reason I'm doing the challenge is to see if it reduces my anxiety/depression and blushing (social anxiety). Second reason is to lose some weight. It very reassuring to hear successes like yours! Thanks for sharing
laurielouise
Depression and anxiety was a motivator for me in doing the Whole30 and the results for me were really dramatic. I was depressed and anxious almost all the time before to the point that it was sometimes hard to leave the house or deal with small challenges at work. This month I haven't felt that way at all the entire month. Sure there have been a few times when something irritated me or hurt my feelings, but I bounced back from it almost immediately and didn't go into a super reactive mode or dwell on it for hours. So interesting! I'm a little nervous that it's a placebo effect from having just started this new thing (Whole30) but it's been almost four weeks now with no decline. What will be really interesting is finding out which foods were causing or exacerbating it in the first place. The common culprits seem to be sugar and gluten, but I've cut out gluten before (for about 6 weeks I think) and didn't notice the same effect so I don't think it's that one for me. Maybe grains in general? I've decided to extend my Whole30 to 90 days to further cement my good habits but also to accrue more data for my baseline before attempting to reintroduce.
