I am a newbie. I am a little nervous about starting. However, I have been on a healthy eating path for at least six months.

I have lost 12 lbs in the last year. I have started exercising. I have been on the right track. And now I am planning to go deeper.

I am a female who is over fifty and African American living in a urban setting. I grew up on a very high carb diet or way of eating. I ate lots of white sugar and flour. When I was younger I used to say I hated fruit and disliked vegetables.

However, heart disease runs in my family, particularly the females and there is a lot of type 2 diabetes in my family and friends. So I decided to make a change.
