pork?

Could someone tell me why or why not pork (including pastured pork) is good/bad/or neither? We had a nutritionist tell us not to eat it when my DH was going through a GAPS/Candida protocol but never told us why. I know some folks don't eat it for religious reasons too. Just curious. It's been about two years and we just started letting the kids have some local uncured bacon. Haven't been on the Weston Price site yet either.

Thank you!

Any animal that is fed hormones, antibiotics and a diet that is not it's natural one, is going to provide low-quality, nutrient-poor, toxin-heavy meat. Pork quality is notoriously difficult to control, and true pastured pork is tough to find. Historically, Muslims and Jews avoided pork due to the high incidence of disease associated with the under-cooking of the meat. However, it appears that good quality pork is completely safe.
