jlsmit
Starting a new Whole30 with my CrossFit friends on January 4. A friend of mine recently acquired one of these Actifry machines (see it here on Amazon) & apparently you can fry things in coconut oil, similar to the way one would with a deep fryer. It is not, necessarily a deep fryer though. From what I've read though, it is more similar to some sort of skillet/convection oven hybrid. What are our thoughts on this? If I put potatoes or sweet potatoes or even chicken wings in here, would it be compliant?
GFChris
Hi there, Per the Whole30 Can I Have Guide, you want to avoid deep frying, and bake or roast instead. See more under French Fries.
Sleeve
If you click on the video link at Amazon, they say "you can create healthy meals with just one tablespoon of oil." That use would be compliant, in fact maybe a bit light on oil since the product seems marketed to the fat fearful. You'll likely get home fries out of this more than french fries, and the wings should taste more baked. Baked wings are actually great anyway because wings are really just sauce delivery utensils.
