youngann
Day 1 went pretty smoothly with food as follows: Breakfast; 2 thick slices leftover roast pork. 1 tbsp sweet potatoes mashed up with butternut squash 1.5 cups broccoli sauteed in ghee. 1/2 avocado Lunch: 3 cups baby spinach 1 cup chicken salad 1 boiled egg 1/2 avocado Dinner; 3 slices leftover roast pork 3 cups asparagus drizzled with ranch dressing Banana Considering this is also my first day without a cigarette, I think it went pretty well. Just have to make it through the next few hours until bedtime :-)

One quick tip, when you're eating just leafy greens, you really need about a bucket full to make an impact so maybe try adding some heartier veggies to that spinach next time? Otherwise your meals look great!

youngann
Feeling a bit out of focus and dizzy today but I think that’s from nicotine withdrawals as I’ve eaten pretty clean for the last 2 weeks. Knowing that I had to take hubby to the doctor’s at 11am today, I cooked the salmon cakes yesterday and they warmed up perfectly in a pan w/a little olive oil. Much better than hitting McDonalds on the way home :-) Breakfast 2 slices leftover roast pork 2 fried eggs Green beans sautéed in ghee ½ avocado Lunch 2 salmon cakes each topped w/1 tsp ranch dressing (oh hell yeah!) Salad w/spinach, onion, tomato, celery, green pepper with ranch dressing Asian pear Dinner 2 roasted chicken thighs 2 cups cauliflower mash 1 cup green beans Day 2 done! Feeling quite proud of myself.

youngann
Not feeling bad today though still a little dizzy and generally unfocused. I was 3 minutes into a conversation with hubby before I realized he’d completely shaved off his beard. Breakfast 2 salmon cakes 1 fried egg Sautéed broccoli ½ avocado Banana Lunch (cold leftovers) 1 leftover chicken thigh 1 cup canned salmon 1 hard boiled egg A tomato Steamed broccoli ½ avocado Dinner 2 roasted chicken thighs in tomato & green pepper sauce 2 cups cauliflower mash 1 cup green beans Day three almost done! Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted May 4, 2016 Moderators Share Posted May 4, 2016 Wonderful! Are you getting an easy 4-5 hours between your meals? Being full and not craving food will definitely help with giving up smoking as well so I want to make sure that you're not going hungry! Two chicken thighs isn't a ton of food... and I don't see fat at dinner I'm so invested in you being successful that I can't help myself to give feedback so there's nothing standing in your way! Also, shaved OFF the beard?? But why??
youngann
I really appreciate the feedback. I actually feel as if I'm eating more food than I ever have in my life. Breakfast at 7am, lunch 12pm and dinner at 5pm without any hunger in between. When I think I may be hungry, I take a short walk outside and it goes away so, what I'm thinking is a food crave is probably nicotine cravings. As for fat with dinner tonight, I had a half cup of coconut cream in the cauliflower mash and I drizzled clarified butter on the green beans. - sorry, should have spelled that out. I have no idea why hubby chose today to shave but he thought it was hilarious that was oblivious to it for a full 3 minutes.

youngann
Feeling pretty darned good today. The dizziness is almost completely gone though the brain fog is still somewhat present. Had to be at the doctor early this morning for a small procedure and I still managed to eat clean and not smoke! Breakfast Cauliflower mash made w/coconut cream and fried in ghee – (yummy) 2 fried eggs 1 cup broccoli ½ Avocado Lunch Chicken salad made w/mayo,celery,tomatoes,onion,green pepper 2 cups baby spinach ½ Avocado Banana Dinner 2 thick slices roast pork Baked sweet potato topped with clarified butter 2 cups green beans drizzled w/clarified butter Day four is in the bag! youngann
Fried chicken? Seriously? I had a dream last night about fried chicken. Hubby and I were at a friend's house and she served us fried chicken. Nothing else, just fried chicken. I didn't want to eat it but hubby was telling me that it would be rude to not eat. I tried explaining that, if I ate it, I'd have to start over again at day 1. Hubby whispered in my ear that no-one would ever know that I cheated a little - (tempting little devil, ain't he?) Anyway, I ate some of that damn fried chicken and though it was juicy, it just wasn't that good. Not worth feeling guilty over and certainly NOT worth starting over for. This morning I realized that I can silence those sneaky little voices that creep into my head and say, "go ahead, one little bite won't hurt. No one will know you cheated a little." The bottom line is, I would know, and the only person I would be cheating is myself.

youngann
I forgot to mention that, since day 1, I've had a terrible time falling asleep. I know this is a side effect of the nicotine withdrawals but I wonder if it's a side effect of the early days of w30 as well. Also, I have always been a water drinker and I really don't think I'm drinking more than normal but I 'm having to get up 2 or 3 times a night to pee. I find that odd because I really don't drink more than a few sips between 6pm and 11pm.

Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted May 5, 2016 Moderators Share Posted May 5, 2016 You can try taking a magnesium supplement to help with sleeping... most people are magnesium deficient anyway due to the current farming practices depleting the soil, so it's not a bad idea all around. Natural Calm is the one we most recommend and the unflavored one is compliant. It works really well and might help you over the hump with the sleep... again, anything that you can do to mitigate poor side effects to keep you on the path is definitely a good idea. Peeing will even out... it's hormones and more veggies and detox... we recommend 1/2oz of water per pound of body weight... you'll eventually sleep through the night... when our hormones are regulated, our bodies turn down those functions so we can sleep.. so while we wake up in the morning having to pee, it does even out so that you dont' need to go in the middle of the night... and once it does, it's glorious! youngann
Again, thank you, your support is very much appreciated. I'm so glad to learn that the peeing will even out. At my age, I expect to have to get up once a night but 2 or 3 times was a bit ridiculous. I will definitely look into the Natural Calm.
youngann
Despite having difficulty getting to sleep each night, I actually feel pretty good. I haven’t experienced the exhaustion, or the wanting to kill everything …yet. A friend asked me today if I was still having indigestion every day. The answer is no, I haven’t had it once since I started this w30. Of course, part of the credit for that may have to go to the fact that I retired the day before I started. No more stress …yay! Breakfast Last of the roast pork 2 fried eggs 1 cup broccoli ½ Avocado Lunch 2 salmon Cakes topped w/ranch dressing 1 hard boiled egg 1 tomato ½ Avocado Banana Dinner 3 slices Meatloaf 2 roasted new potatoes 2 cups broccoli/cauliflower mix dipped in clarified butter – my new favorite way to eat veggies. Day five is in the bag! I can do this.
