KJT
Are plantains a fruit or a vegetable? I keep seeing suggestions to eat them if you need a starchy veggie, but...really just mutant bananas, right? I guess I want to know how far I need to limit quantity. I've finally perfected my fried plantains, and I will pretty much eat as many as I cook, so I need to know when to stop cooking. Moderators Tom Denham Posted July 24, 2013 Moderators Share Posted July 24, 2013 A plantain is classified as a fruit. Plantains do supply carbs. I am unsure if they are as good a choice as sweet potatoes, but my guess is that you probably should not eat them every day. Personally, I eat no more than 2 per week and don't buy them every week. Of course, I eat the whole plantain in one sitting.
