Day 5!

Snow Day!  Office closed!  :-)

Sore throat worse, scratchy voice.  :-(

Breakfast:

Leftover hamburger patty

Leftover roasted beets, carrots, parsnips

Banana

1/2 small glass of almond milk

2 elderberry capsules

Not a snack but something:

Hot tea with coconut milk (the snow makes me want hot chocolate!)

Lunch:

Leftover mushroom soup from last night with a couple handfuls of frozen spinach

Dinner:

Pulled pork

Plantains fried in coconut oil and ghee

Green beans with ghee and almonds toasted in ghee

Unsweetened applesauce

Need to nap but I don't want to miss the snow - it's snowing hard and it's so pretty!  Six inches already.  Chickens are not amused.  One cat pissed, the other one sulking.  Dog is bored and sighing.  Feeling very peaceful.  Grateful to be warm and comfortable, with plenty of good food to eat and not having to worry about going to work because the office is closed.  I will feel a lot more peaceful when Andy gets home safely.

Okay, today is Day 9.  The last few days have been a blur of coughing, nose-blowing, and sleeping.

I haven't gone off-plan except for some tangerine juice and cough medicine.  Do you know how hard it is to find cough syrup and cough drops without sugar or other sweeteners and nasty stuff?  Yuck!

Breakfast:

Scrambled eggs

Bowl of blueberries with sliced banana and coconut milk

Lunch:

1/2 jar of home-canned tuna with paleo mayo over greens with paleo ranch dressing

Small juice glass of tangerine juice

Dinner:

2 hotdogs

Orange

Probably didn't eat enough, but I wasn't hungry.

Day 10!

I have now officially moved from "having a cold" to "getting over a cold."  YAY!

Breakfast:

A bowl of nuts and fruit with coconut milk

1 small glass tangerine juice

Lunch:

Grilled salmon

Carrots

Cucumber

The avocado I splurged on ($2.79!!!!) was brown in the center like it had been frozen.  :-(

I had a cup of tea with coconut milk to add some fat to my lunch.

Dinner:

Big salad with carrots, celery, radish, cucumber, olives, avocado, and spiced ground beef and paleo ranch.

(my husband said how good dinner was twice while he was eating!)  :-)

Finally feeling pretty good, and now that I am no longer snowed/iced/slushed in, with tonight's dinner I feel like I am back on track with eating according to the template instead of randomly eating foods that are okay for W30 but not necessarily in actual meals.  Yay!

No cough syrup or cough drops or cold medicine for 24 hours - woo hoo!!!

Glad you're feeling better.

Watch the juice. Whole30 recommends using fruit juice only as a flavoring in cooking, not as a beverage.

As you continue to get back to 100%, look for your meals to meet the recommended template of 1-2 palms of protein, 1-3 cups of veggies, and the appropriate amount of compliant fat.

Good morning, Day 11!

Breakfast:

Last 2 hotdogs in the package

Carrots, cucumber, handful of olives

Banana

Half an apple

Chai tea with a LOT of coconut milk

(hungry again and it's an hour til lunchtime - tomorrow, eat more protein and some sweet potato/roasted carrot)

Ate lunch a little early.

Lunch:

Big salad with veggies and an avocado and meat leftover from last night, with paleo ranch dressing

Didn't realize I'm out of some of my lunch supplies at work.  Must shop.

Snack:

Cherry Pie Larabar

Dinner:

Pork chop

Broccolini roasted with olive oil, lemon zest and slices, and S&P

Big bite of raw dill-caraway sauerkraut

Big handful olives

Small serving applesauce

Just figured out why I'm so hungry - my breakfast wasn't enough, so I'm going to be hungry all dang day!

Realization:  I haven't had any sweet potatoes in a week, and the inside of my lips are no longer inflamed and puffy and sticking to my teeth (random, right?).  I will try to stay off sweet potatoes and do a re-intro for them at the end.

SCORE!  Talked to the guy stocking meat at Natural Grocers today, and he is going to add Pederson's Paleo bacon to the order list, and call me when it comes in. Yay! I have a bunch of bacon and sausage in my freezer - we bought half a pig in December from my husband's cousin - but I don't know what is in the cure for the bacon or sausage so we're not eating it.  It will be nice to have some bacon during my W30.

Day 12 :-)

Breakfast:

Steak

Carrots

Cucumber

Banana

Bunch o' olives

Tea with coconut milk

Later:

Tea with coconut milk

Lunch:

Huge salad with celery, cucumber, and two big extra carrots, about half a can of olives, some paleo ranch, and leftover ground beef and also a small, orphaned piece of grilled salmon.  Oh, and a few sprouted nuts on top too.

Dinner:

Steak

Mushrooms sauteed with garlic and ghee

Spinach with ghee, pine nuts, and lemon

Half an avocado

Several olives

Big bite raw sauerkraut

Half an apple

Two dates dipped in almond butter

Thoughts:  Breakfast was better today - enough protein and fat, but cooked carrots would have been better I think.  When I was having a sweet potato and coconut oil with meat every day for breakfast, I always had energy and rarely got hungry before lunch.  Need to figure out a good substitute for sweet potato.

Leftover sausage

Leftover roasted carrots

Banana

1 date

Spoonful of coconut butter

Tea with coconut milk

Ugh.  I am so over food right now.  Tired of it.  Don't want to think about it.  Don't want to see it.  Don't want to eat it.  NONE of it sounds good.  Blech.  I felt this way for a couple days the first time too.  I hope I get over it soon.  It's kind of hard to eat three meals a day when every food you can think of makes your stomach flip and want to hurl!  :-)

Lunch:

Leftover turkey

Toddler veggies (carrot and celery sticks, cucumber spears)

Half an avocado

Handful of olives

Lemon tahini dressing to dip

Snack:

Half a gross Kit bar

Dinner:

Pork chop with caramelized pineapple

Sauteed bok choy

Lunch:

Leftover turkey

Toddler veggies (carrot, celery, cucumber)

For some reason, I really want hot chocolate and a sugar cookie right now.  Okay, two sugar cookies.  Lucy's makes excellent GF sugar cookies, even though it is definitely a food-like-product and not real food.

Half an apple with almond butter

Hmmm.  I am not sure what happened to my weekend - I can't believe I didn't post all weekend and now I can't remember what I ate!  I know I didn't stray, so I guess it doesn't matter so much.  I can remember what I had for dinner last night...

Dinner (Day 22)
