Karyna
How was everyone's Day 6? Weekends are normally difficult for me as they are normally when I let myself indulge and being at home I end up just snacking. But today was super successful as there was no snacking, although I did delay Meal1 until about 3 hrs after waking. I just wasn't hungry and because of where I was and what I was doing, wasn't able to eat right away. M1 - scrambled eggs, bacon (not cured with sugar but has nitrates :s) and kale sautéed with ghee M2 - organic free range beef burger (whole30 compliant), bacon and egg fried in ghee with sweet potato chips and lettuce M3 - organic free range beef, steamed broccoli, sweet potato chips and a banana I had to find dried fruit today without sulfites as I accidentally had a small amount of dried mango dried with sulphur dioxide. Oops. Do I need to start completely over? Tomorrow is a new day...
LTRocket
My day 6 is going fantastic so far! Went to a spin class for the first time in a long time and it felt amazing! Got my food shopping done, going to dive into the squash world and see what yummy stuff I can make :-) Got my cleaning done and am about to take a relaxing bath with a cup of tea....feeling good! AshleyAnth
My husband took us all out to lunch today, and I did my best to stay compliant, but now I feel headachy and tired. I'm wondering what it could've been... I asked for the chicken fajitas, without the tortillas or cheese and sour cream... just the chicken, veggies, pico de gallo, and guacamole. Then I asked for a side salad, with no cheese or croutons... mixed everything together and it tasted delicious! Just using guacamole, pice de gallo, and lime juice as the dressing. I felt really good right afterwards, up until about 15 minutes after eating.
AshleyAnth
Karyna - I wouldn't start over. Just don't eat them again!
LTRocket
I wonder if it's got something to do with the chicken? That stinks ....good for you for being compliant though! Hope you feel better!
Karyna
Sorry to hear about you not feeling well AshleyAnth. You did your best to stay compliant but not always easiest to do in restaurants. Good luck!
AshleyAnth
I posted in a facebook Whole30 group about it... they were saying the chicken was probably cooked in canola oil. Which I didn't even think about! So it was probably that Felt sick to my stomach for a little bit and a little cranky as well. I did my best though! AshleyAnth
M1: 2 hardboiled eggs, tomato with salt and pepper, avocado... still not liking the whole eating within an hour of waking, but I'm trying! M2: chicken fajita salad... chicken, onions, peppers, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, jalepeno, guacamole, pico de gallo, lime juice M3: banana, almonds, baked chicken with hot sauce, tomato with salt and pepper (I'm becoming obsessed with this lol), sauteed kale, zucchini and peppers in coconut oil Didn't get a workout in, but mowed the lawn, did yard work, washed the car, and spent quite a few hours helping my oldest daughter go through her toys and organize them, and decide what she wanted to keep and what to give away to charity. She had a lot of fun doing it, and we had some good mother/daughter bonding time BRING ON DAY 6!!

LTRocket
Karyna how'd your weekend go? I'd like you all to know that I am currently sitting in the bar watching the Bears game. I had a whole 30 compliant and very yummy dinner before I came and I'm drinking a club soda with lime :-) Not feeling the least bit pressured to drink....1 week in the books!! I had a whole 30 compliant and very yummy dinner before I came and I'm drinking a club soda with lime :-) Not feeling the least bit pressured to drink....1 week in the books!! HI LTRocket, The weekend overall was good - weekends for me are normally my weakness as I like to sit and snack on anything and everything. But I did stick to whole30 over the weekend, and only snacked if I was extremely hungry and stuck to dried mango and cashew nuts. Although, I am finding that having a bit of dried mango makes me want more so I may lay off the dried fruit for a while. Day 7 - I was extremely tired today. The plan today was to go to a birthday party where I was going to bring my own #whole30 compliant lunch, but Robyn ended up... Vomiting on the bus. Again. Ugh. M1 - steak, egg, bacon and sautéed kale and a coffee with coconut cream M2 - compliant burger, bacon, sweet potato chips, lettuce & spinach, and a banana, cashew nuts and some dried mango M3 - meatloaf (recipe adapted from @paleomg), cauliflower mash and sweet potato chips One week of Whole30 complete! Congratulations everyone!
LTRocket
Weekends are usually hard for me too but I feel like I rocked this past one! Is Robyn your daughter? Poor thing! Yeah I think dried fruit isn't really Whole 30 compliant, its too sugary. We're supposed to have 1-2 servings of fruit per day anyway. Its crazy but I don't even miss fruit that much...or milk...or grains. O thought giving up those things was going to be the hardest thing in the world lol Keep charging girl, look forward to your posts!
AshleyAnth
Karyna your food looks delicious!!! I'm sorry Robyn (I'm assuming your daughter) is sick. I hope she feels better soon! It's always worse when they're sick than us, because we just want to snap our fingers and make it all go away!! LTRocket, I feel the same with missing things... I don't miss grains or dairy at all. Don't even think about putting cheese on anything anymore. Where as before, I put cheese on EVERYTHING!
AshleyAnth
Day 8... M1: 2 hardboiled eggs, cantelope, almonds, tomato and cucumber salad with olive oil and balsalmic, salt and pepper, Post WO: 1 hardboiled egg, raw carrots with olive oil and balsalmic vinegar M2: baked chicken, hardboiled egg, 1/2 sweet potato, cucumber, tomato, and peppers salad with avocado, salt, pepper M3: moroccan meatballs, spinach, tomato, baked kale, zucchini, and carrots in olive oil, cashews YUMMMM!!!! Karyna
Yes Robyn is my daughter. She turned 2 in August. She's the one in my profile pic with me. I think dried fruit was okay as long as there was no added sugar and as long as it wasn't a substitute for veggies or real fruit. I only had two small pieces of dried mango yesterday so it wasn't too bad. I'm not craving too many sweet things anymore either. I'm still having a hard time getting over my craving for sweet, baked goods although it doesn't help that I'm watching the Great British Bake Off which is on right now in the UK. However, even watching the program, while I think about how good a piece of cake would be, I immediately think, "Nope. I don't need it." which is vast improvement. I tend to watch Cupcake Wars, or Master Chef, or any sort of cooking challenge show, and used to find myself getting hungry. Now though, I don't even think about it. I've finally gotten to the point that just looking at food, doesn't make me hungry. Smelling is a totally different thing though! lol Dried fruit is okay, just like you said, no added sugar and not as a substitute.

For me, it gives me ideas on what to cook or bake and how to test my baking skill - but I also want to think of how to Paleo-fy them. After the whole30 is done! Part of me has already started thinking about after the whole 30 and reintroduction and it's starting to scare me a bit. I've been reading up on posts in the After Whole30 forum and there are items that I would not want to incorporate back into my daily diet (like dairy, grains, legumes) but would want to have them once in a while as a treat or if at a place/event where I'm unable to be compliant. I'm already thinking ahead and could see myself being about 85-95% compliant, then on weekends or special occasions allowing myself the treat. What are your thoughts? AshleyAnth
@Karyna - That's what I plan on doing... being like, 90% compliant. When I'm at home, I will eat foods like this, probably paleo-fying certain things so I can have a little more variety. And then on special occasions and holidays, I will allow myself to go off track. AshleyAnth
Day 9: Today has been a busy but great day! Went to the grocery store to grab just a few things that I love in every meal... boiled a bunch of eggs for me and my husband. Cut up all the peppers and cantelope, played with the baby, prepped some more food! I think i spent a total of 3 hours prepping foods. I'm still going to do some tonight... making mashed potatoes and mashed sweet potatoes... the potatoes are for my daughters. I will eat the sweet potatoes, and the Brooklyn (baby) will probably want some. Then picked up Bella (2nd grader) and took her to a play therapy session, where me and Brooklyn just played while Bella played... she's having emotional issues due to mean girls at school, and it's a great way for her to express the way she feels. Came home, made dinner, and then me and the girls went for a mile and a half "nature" walk. Now they are in bed! And I have time to relax a little! I will be making foods, like I said, and doing another workout... probably legs and abs. I've gotten in 75 pushups so far. Only 25 more to go for the day! Food is as follows: M1: 2 scrambled eggs mixed with tomatoes and compliant uncured bacon, baked zucchini, carrots, and kale, cashews M2: 1/2 banana, almonds, coconut flakes, baked chicken on a spinach and mustard greens salad, peppers, tomatoes, cucumber, olive oil and vinegar dressing M3: baked zucchini, carrots, and kale with sausage and hamburger, tomatoes, olive oil and vinegar dressing, water with lemon I feel AMAZING! How was everyone elses day 9?
Karyna
Ooh, I'm a bit behind on updating my days! Day 8 - first week of #whole30 done! Today I started reading#itstartswithfood and it is such great insight into the way the body works and how food can react with your body. I also bought a new cookbook today - WellFed by the same authors of #iswf - can't wait to get it in the post and try it out!Today's menu:PreWO - grilled chicken and cashew nutsPostWO - pork, parsnip, sweet potato, courgette breakfast casseroleM1 - spinach, chicken, hard boiled egg, coffee with coconut milkM2 - grilled gammon, cauliflower mash, sweet potato chips, coffee with coconut milkM3 - fish curry, steamed broccoli, cashew nutsI was so satisfied from breakfast which I are at about 9 that I didn't eat lunch until about 1:30 which is rare for me. And definitely no snacking today as I was not hungry between lunch and dinner. Another successful #whole30 day!#paleo #paleodiet #paleolove #cleaneating #foodporn #foodlover #wwfooddiary#iswf #itstartswithfood
Karyna
Day 9 - I am already starting to worry about what will happen after the whole30 is completed, the entire process of reintroducing foods back into your system. I miss my treats but I want to be able to have them without going crazy. Something to think about...PreWO - chicken and cashew nutsPostWO - egg, pork, parsnip, sweet potato and courgette casseroleM1 - spinach, chicken and egg scramble, and a coffee with coconut milkM2 - grilled salmon, cauliflower mash, broccoli, banana and cashew nuts M3 - pork medallions, broccoli, sweet potato chips, dried mango and cashew nutsI still feel tired but snacking in the afternoons is almost non-existent now which is amazing. I have also been reading #iswf #itstartswithfood and it's so far enlightening learning about the biological and hormonal processes that govern our bodies and how food, both good and bad, can affect them. LTRocket
Day 10 for me. Was definitely noticing a crabbiness about myself yesterday and started craving all the foods I used to eat. I was definitely feeling tired so I went to bed last night before 8pm. Feeling better today I think. I think I'm getting stressed out from all the planning involved with the meals and the week has been so busy. I look forward to the weekends so much now because I'll actually have time to sit down and figure out what I'm going to eat for the week. I Boughy a slow cooker and foreman grill which I'm hoping gets here before next week so I can start switching things up a bit :-)
