Anewknitter
So I am trying a beef stew in the crockpot. Per the recipe I am using a boneless chuck roast. Is this a meat that does better longer in the crockpot? Can I overcook this meat? It is already in and I am approaching the possible time it might be done (the recipe said 6-8 hours, but my crock cooks everything fast) and I have to go out. So I am trying to figure out what to do. Last week I did pork and made the wrong decision... it was a cut of meat that apparently Should be falling apart, so I stopped cooking it before I should have. Whoops... trying to learn from my mistakes. Thanks!
Robin Strathdee
Chuck roast is a great long cooker! I'd test a little bit to check tenderness (it should be falling apart). If it's not there yet, kick your pot over to low and let it go until you get home.
Lizitea
Or depending how long you are going out for, turn it off and turn it back on when you come home.
